UPDATE | 2104 E. Platte Ave. Structure Fire Due to the significant damage to the building, fire investigators have concluded that the origin and cause of the fire to be undetermined. The building was demolished due to concerns about its structural integrity and to allow firefighters to safely access and fully extinguish hidden areas of fire within the structure. As seen in the video below, fire was still active well into the demolition of the building. RECAP: On Sunday, October 18, at 10:14 a.m., your Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 2104 E. Platte Ave. Multiple callers reported smoke coming from the roof of the building. Drone as a First Responder responded ahead of crews and provided firefighters with a live overhead view while they were en route. Drone footage showed heavy fire coming from the roof. Battalion 1 immediately upgraded the incident to a working structure fire and called for a second alarm. Engine 1 arrived at 10:18 a.m., with Tower 1 just behind them. Crews immediately began searching the building and attacking the fire. Due to heavy fire conditions and a partial roof collapse, firefighters transitioned to a defensive fire attack from outside the building. Crews were later repositioned again after an exterior wall on the west side of the building began failing toward the neighboring building. The fire was knocked down at 12:56 p.m. There were no injuries to firefighters or members of the community. Both buildings involved were unoccupied. (CSFD Drone video shows the demolition of the building)

Good morning, bestie boos, we need your help!!! We have a whole fleet of drones that serve our community in a variety of ways, and there’s just one tiny problem… THEY NEED NAMES. Because tell us how cute it would be to post: “Video provided by: [insert drone name here].” So, we’re turning this one over to you. We’re looking for fun, creative names for our drones. And before you ask: if you submit “Big Brother” or “Droney McDroneface,” there is a very strong chance it’s going directly into the trash. You have ONE WEEK to submit your best ideas at the link below. May the odds be ever in your favor. forms.cloud.microsoft/g/80Hr…

#ColoradoSpringsFire is on scene of a vehicle fire in the area of Delaware Dr and E Bijou St. Engine 8 is on scene and has knocked down the bulk of the fire. A large van was fully engulfed with fire spreading to a van next to it when firefighters arrived. This is the second time today we’ve had issues with people driving over fire hose on a fire scene. Please turn around if you come up to an emergency scene do NOT drive over fire hose, that damages the hose, could cause it to burst, cut off water supply and create safety hazards for all involved. 🎥: Drone as a First Responder
