I'm always fascinated by his energy, depth of knowledge, and consistency. In the future, we'll need a Bright Simons Institute to memorialize & institutionalize his works. Today, many might take what he's doing for granted but one day we'll understand the value of what he does.

From football to politics and everyday life, I have come to realize that you can never persuade some people to abandon a lie, no matter how compelling the truth may be, so long as they are driven by bias or motivated to believe that lie. Some people simply lack the moral courage and sound conscience to embrace the truth. Their consciences have become so seared that even the most glaring evidence cannot sway them! Yet, no matter how long falsehood is defended or disguised, truth remains truth. One of my favourite puritan authors, Thomas Brooks once said, “Great is truth, and shall prevail!”

934 goals and he has played over 130 games less than Ronaldo. He's got better goal ratio than Ronaldo. Why isn't Messi regarded as the best goal scorer of his time.
✨🇦🇷 Lionel Messi with a brace for Inter Miami tonight to reach 934 career goals.

One of the price indicators @StatsGhana tracks is the Prime Building Cost Index. It measures how construction costs change over time: if you are building a house or an office, how much more (or less) is it costing you? The index covers three groups: materials, plant (equipment) and labour. Like consumer inflation, construction cost growth has slowed sharply since 2025. It fell from a peak of 24.4% in April 2025 to 2.2% in March 2026. It has picked up again since then, reaching 4.6% in August. Electrical work, metal fittings, glass and plumbing were the main drivers of the increase. Cheaper steel and cement pulled the overall rise down. Between July and August, prices barely moved. The key question for the coming months is whether steel and cement stay relatively cheap, because they are what is keeping construction cost growth in check.

Credit to the private sector is growing again in both nominal and inflation-adjusted terms. Nominal credit was up 35.5% in August, but even after stripping out inflation, real credit growth was still 29%. That is a real improvement. As recently as early 2025, real credit growth was negative, meaning borrowing was not even keeping pace with prices. It now is, comfortably. Credit is also increasingly going to the private sector rather than government. Since August 2022, bank claims on the private sector have roughly doubled, while bank claims on government have grown by less than 40%. Banks are lending more to businesses and households, not just financing the state. That points to genuinely easier credit conditions. Inflation has come down, the Bank of Ghana's policy rate has fallen sharply, and credit is actually flowing to the private sector at a pace that beats inflation. But not all of that relief is reaching borrowers evenly. The Ghana Reference Rate, the benchmark banks use to price loans, has fallen by more than half since the beginning of 2025. Average lending rates have fallen too, but by less. The gap between the two, basically the banks' markup, was as thin as 0.35 percentage points in January last year. It is now over 5 points, suggesting that banks are passing on less of the fall in interest rates to households and businesses. Where the credit is actually going also matters. Services now take 37.7% of all bank credit, up from under 20% a decade ago, by far the biggest gain of any sector. Manufacturing, by contrast, has barely moved. Its share of credit was 8.4% in 2016 and sits at 9.9% now, effectively flat for ten years despite everything else changing around it. Credit needs to go to the right places even as the talk about industrialization continues.

The path forward for the International Student Program is clear: Canada will continue to welcome a sustainable number of talented international students to our world-class institutions while creating targeted opportunities to retain skilled graduates who can help grow our economy and strengthen our public services. The shift is already underway: • 80% fewer new international students arrived in Canada between January and July 2026, compared with the same period in 2024. • The international student population has dropped by more than 40% since its peak (June 2024). • University students accounted for 40% of new study permit holders in 2025, up from 30% in 2024. We’re also making it easier for highly qualified graduate students to choose Canada, including 2-week processing for new PhD students and an exemption from the provincial or territorial attestation letter requirement for master’s and doctoral students. Canada has been charting a new course for immigration—one that welcomes the world’s best talent while keeping population growth sustainable and better aligning arrivals with community capacity.

'Expats' And The New Scramble for African Cities A new scramble for African cities is happening. Driven by foreign salaries, strong currencies, and short-term rentals, desirable neighborhoods across the continent are pricing out the locals who live and work there. Drawing parallels between historical colonial spatial segregation and present-day economic dynamics, we examine how parallel expat economies operate and highlight the need for housing policies that protect local communities.

It was a special pleasure receiving my brothers from the Bishop Herman Old Boys Union ahead of the BHOBU Games 2026, scheduled for Saturday, 19th September at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. There is something special about reconnecting with people who share part of your journey. Beyond the competition, the BHOBU Games give us an opportunity to meet old friends, strengthen the bonds between generations of BIHECANS, share a few laughs and continue building a strong alumni community around the school that helped shape us. I was also pleased to receive my BHOBU jersey, and I look forward to joining the brotherhood on Saturday. More importantly, I remain committed to supporting initiatives of the Union that use sport to strengthen camaraderie while contributing meaningfully to the development of Bishop Herman College. SICUT MILES CHRISTI 💚💛

Government is moving to regulate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as rapid deployment puts pressure on electricity transformers. Energy and Green Transition Minister Dr John Abdullai Jinapor says legislation before Parliament will require EV charging station operators to obtain approval from the Energy Commission before establishing their facilities. #EVCharging #ElectricVehicles #EnergyTransition #JohnJinapor #GhanaNews #ChannelOneNews

Ghana’s economy today is essentially a gold-patched economy, just as it was once largely cocoa-patched. Gold may be providing the immediate relief, but it cannot be the long-term solution. The only sustainable long-term solution is to build a manufacturing powerhouse economy that produces more of what we consume, adds value to our raw materials, exports competitively, creates jobs at scale, and reduces our exposure to exchange rate-induced inflation. But building that kind of economy takes time. What we are seeing now is largely a short-to-medium-term commodities-patched economy, with gold playing the leading role. Gold is being used to stabilize the economy, strengthen our external position, deal with domestic and external debt obligations, and support infrastructural development that can stimulate the productive sectors of the economy. I am glad that much of this infrastructural development is anchored on transportation(AKA. BIG PUSH). Transportation is the bloodstream of manufacturing economies. Efficient roads, railways, ports and other transport systems reduce the cost of moving raw materials, labour and finished goods, connect producers to markets, and make local industries more competitive. The losses associated with the domestic gold purchase programme must also be understood within this broader context. Some of these losses may be a necessary evil in achieving the larger macroeconomic objective, but that does not mean they should be ignored or accepted without scrutiny. The conversation should therefore focus on improving cost efficiency, managing the losses downwards, and ensuring that we achieve maximum economic benefit at the least possible cost. The bigger question is whether we can use today’s gold-backed stability to build a stronger productive economy. If we use gold only to stabilize the economy without expanding manufacturing and domestic production, then we would simply be replacing yesterday’s dependence on cocoa with today’s dependence on gold. #Myopinion #StopGalamseyNow

If you read nothing at all for 1 month. Read Ebi Bright’s article published yesterday on Centralised Decentralisation. Well researched. Truly reflective, and Well articulated. And perhaps the most important take on Ghana’s self-inflicted decentralisation struggles in years. This is something I will recommend a thousand times over for the President. John Dramani Mahama. Those with his WhatsApp number should send it to him. It’s also a must read for all political actors. Really good job - Ebi. medium.com/@team_3068/centra… Shalom
