I made four separate scarves that we held as a beautiful banner that read “Save Women’s Sports” with one as “@KnownHeretic” all on black cloth using green fabric paint. The scarves made an iconic image that was captured by news media that carried our message: Save Women’s Sports. This was the message that was silenced on September 6 before we could even express it. Unfurling that scarves in the midst of pink and blue territory is a point of pride. They can’t silence our voices! We refuse to be silenced! They passed out flags, weapons to silence and attack us with. They hoped to keep our message from being seen. But instead they exposed themselves as some of the most dangerous anti-free speech our message has been seen and this story is international. Two of the scarfs were ripped from our hands and stolen from us at the game, but luckily we were able to save “women’s” and “sports.” We literally saved: Women’s Sports. I find that powerful and meaningful.
