What’s the best way to heal from mold illness/CIRS? I’m not a doctor, but I’ve found from my own experience and from talking to many patients over the years—especially sensitive patients—that the order of steps should be: 1. Nervous system regulation and support. Getting the body out of sympathetic dominance and turning off the “danger” signals the brain may be sending to all of the body’s cells and organs. 2. Testing and (if needed) fixing the environment to stop toxin exposure. This includes mold, bacteria (e.g. actinomycetes), and endotoxins (e.g. sewage leak). 3. Repairing and supporting the body’s detoxification pathways (taking a bottom-up approach rather than top-down; meaning you start at the bottom of the funnel before moving upwards through the system—being particularly careful not to overload the enterohepatic circulation. 4. Slowly adding in binders—ideally a positive-charge binder like Welchol or Cholestyramine that binds more easily to negatively-charged microbial toxins. 5. Add anti-microbials as needed depending on infections present. Most commonly seen are low-grade infections in the sinuses such as MARCoNS, candida in the gut, and actinomycetes over-colonization on skin. There are of course many other modalities that can and often should be added such as anti-inflammatory support, mineral repletion, MCAS support, methylation correction/support, metabolic support, dietary restrictions such as low-FODMAP and low-histamine, and a graduated exercise regimen. This will vary depending on the individual.

I strongly oppose public executions for the same reason I opposed the name change to Department of War. It feeds a culture of violence that we as a collective society need to move out away from. It’s human 1.0 stuff that appeals to the most basic part of the brain. Makes the macho guys feel something. But do we truly want peace? Then start talking about and focusing on peace. And maybe don’t livestream people getting shot, regardless of whether it’s for justice. And the Catholic Church is right about the death penalty—we shouldn’t use it.
