A pro-surrogacy petition gathered more than 113,000 signatures, demanding that intended parents be recognised as the legal parents of a child from birth.
That forced a debate in Parliament.
And instead of the easy victory the surrogacy lobby might have expected… there was real pushback.
MP after MP stood up to defend the rights of women and children, the legal status of the mother who gives birth, and the safeguards the petition wanted removed.
One Labour MP even openly called for a total ban on surrogacy!
And the Government? No new surrogacy bill. No immediate liberalisation.
This is not abolition, not yet, but this is important.
Because once again we are being shown that the expansion of surrogacy is NOT inevitable.
There is resistance and it is growing. 🇬🇧🔥
