🔴 2015: The Modi-led government approved ₹338.58 crore for a national facility to breed and house animals for biomedical research!
🔴 2019: Animal-welfare administration was shifted from the Environment Ministry to the Animal Husbandry Department, bringing AWBI and CCSEA under the same ministry!
🔴 2023: Dogs and cats were included in a proposed livestock trade framework! Public opposition followed, and the draft was withdrawn!
🔴 2025: The Supreme Court's stray-dog removal orders triggered nationwide outrage over the future of community dogs!
🔴 2025: AWBI, responsible for animal welfare, and CCSEA, responsible for supervising animal experiments, came under the SAME CHAIRMAN!!
🔴 2026: The government proposed animal experimentation rules that could allow institutional committees to approve more experiments without separate central scrutiny!

Imagine an animal being subjected to pain, fear and distress inside a laboratory, only for its suffering to be classified as "MILD" OR "MODERATE"!!
Under the proposed draft, institutional Animal Ethics Committees could approve experiments classified as mild or moderate across animal species without separate CCSEA approval.
DOGS, CATS, MONKEYS, RABBITS, RATS.. NO SPECIES IS AUTOMATICALLY EXEMPT FROM THIS APPROVAL PATHWAY!!
And here's the most disturbing question:
WHY WOULD AN INSTITUTION THAT DEPENDS ON RESEARCH FUNDING VOLUNTARILY CLASSIFY AN EXPERIMENT AS "SEVERE" IF THAT MEANS MORE COMPLICATED APPROVALS???
