THE CYCLE is one of Shudder's best original movies and one of its subgenre's best movies in a long time. A compelling mystery that transforms into something much, much cooler. Excellent practical FX. Jordan Downey is a filmmaker to watch in the horror space. Don't miss this one.

It was the same when I saw it in Sydney. Not one person moved when it finished. Everyone sat through the rolling credits. Stunned? Hard to know the reason for each individual but the film is stunning. Complex &challenging but the basic message is crystal clear: what have we done?
The theater was packed. When it was finished the audience just sat there as the credits rolled. Stillness. You know how rare that is for people to not jump up and start yammering or scrolling or move on to the next thing? There was stillness and awe, gratitude and sorrow and astonishment both with the film and this world we have allowed.
This movie being slammed by reviewers is beyond comprehension. Anyone who is dragging this piece through the mud should get a brain scan or see it again as they must not have been paying attention. This is one of the most daring, original, provocative pieces of art I’ve seen and bravo to every person that laid a hand on it. I’d have given my right arm to be an extra in this movie (I’m right handed).
This craft, like many other things nowadays, feels in peril. The systems at play encourage mass appeal above all else. Digger is a battle cry for art, for waking up, for demanding an actual attention span of your audience and for the miracle of having a point of view. To horrify, delight, wildly surprise repeatedly and inspire us to fight for our world before it’s too late is an incredible accomplishment. Don’t listen to rotten tomatoes. Find an actual person who saw this movie. Listen to them. Tomato tomaaato! Fuck that stupid nonsense percentage bullshit. It’s so dumb. Go see this movie.
Thank you @diggerthemovie !

HALLOWEEN CLEAR OUT! 🎃🦇
Every print I have left is in these boxes. When Halloweens over, so are they.
I stopped making open edition prints a while ago - everything I draw now is a one-of-one original. But the old stock never left my studio, so it’s all going before 31 October. Freddy, Pazuzu, the Wicked Witch, Kirsty, Ash, Sally Hardesty and loads more. Jason’s down to his last two.
Shipping is charged once per order, so a few can travel together. Link to shop in bio.
After Halloween, there won’t be any more.

Salem’s Lot traumatised a generation of kids, and we were never the same again.
I watched Tobe Hooper’s Salem’s Lot in 4K last night and got hit with a wave of nostalgia... I was suddenly 10 years old again.
Released in Nov 1979 (Sept '81 in the UK), this miniseries did something unique: it premiered where we sleep. Back then, kids were obviously kept out of R-rated cinema horrors. But Salem’s Lot aired on prime-time TV over two nights. Millions of children, completely unprepared for high-calibre horror, watched it at home with their families, baking those nightmares into the safest place we knew. This was our home. Vampires were in our home, and WE WERE ALLOWED TO WATCH IT. And it happened on a Monday; A boring Monday? How bad could it be?
Unlike some monster movies where adults are the main targets, Salem’s Lot put kids right in the crosshairs. Seeing boys like the Glick brothers get targeted, disappear, and come back as pale, glowing-eyed monsters taught young viewers a brutal lesson: being a kid ain't gonna protect you from evil. The first victim offered to Mr Barlow (The Master) is Ralphie Glick. Mr Straker (James Mason) lays him out like a slab of meat. But what came next is what every playground chatter was filled with the following morning.
The peak trauma of the first episode is the iconic bedroom window sequence: vampire-child Ralphie floating in thick fog outside his brother’s upstairs window, gently scratching at the glass. It turned a child’s safest space, the bedroom, into a threat. After that, kids everywhere were terrified to look at their windows after dark. That single scene shattered the idea of our “safe space”. We had nowhere to go. Plenty of us turned up at school the next day, exhausted from staying awake all night; we'd been staring out, half-expecting a floating boy in a cloud of mist to start tapping on the glass…

FIRST LOOK: Johnny Depp has a new film out this March called Day Drinker, which reunites Depp with Penelope Cruz for a fourth time after Blow (2001) , Pirates of the Caribbean 4 ( 2011) and Murder on the Orient Express (2017). The trailer definitely excites me & this is going on the Letterboxd watchlist.
