Guys, remember zg? We shared it a couple of months ago when our friends on Alibaba's @ZvecAI first open-sourced it, and it got a lot of love from developers. Well, they've been busy: they rewrote its core in Rust, and the performance gains are quite something
In their benchmarks, indexing took 64.5% less time, with 53.2% lower average peak memory usage. Less waiting for your index, more room for your editor and coding agents. It still works with Qwen Code and other coding agents, with more integrations added in this release.
Check out their post and repo for more details: github.com/zvec-ai/zvec-grep
🚀 Zvec-grep 0.3.0 is here — rebuilt in Rust.
Local search for developers and AI agents, now with less waiting and a lighter footprint.
⚡ Less time indexing
Across four BEIR datasets, total index build time dropped from 219 s to 78 s—about 65% less time than the Node.js version.
🪶 Lower memory use
Average peak indexing memory fell by 53%, leaving more room for your editor, agents, and other tools.
🔎 Smoother everyday use
An rg-inspired CLI, clearer model selection and indexing progress, plus fixes for file tracking, result locations, and index management.
🤖 More agent integrations
Now supports GitHub Copilot, Grok Build, VS Code, and Pi, alongside existing integrations.
Try it in your workspace and tell us how it goes.

"You Don't Need Long Context"
NVIDIA finds that LLM agents can complete complex long-horizon tasks without maintaining their entire conversation history, which reduces inference costs.
So instead of accumulating tokens, they use frequent context compaction to summarize progress and retrieve information when needed, even resetting the context after every agent action.
Across six long-horizon benchmarks, this preserves accuracy while achieving up to 8.8x lower estimated inference costs.

‼️ Microsoft Paint 0-Click Vulnerability Could Allow Hackers to Take Control of Windows PCs
Details: cybersecuritynews.com/window…
Microsoft’s Windows Paint vulnerability, CVE-2026-83844, could allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute code over a network without user interaction.
The vulnerability stems from an out-of-bounds read, a memory error in which software reads beyond its intended boundary. Microsoft initially listed Paint version 11.2605.91.0 as the fixed release.
Administrators reported that Microsoft Store continued offering 11.2605.81.0, even after update checks and Store cache resets. The flaw carries a CVSS score of 8.1, placing it in the High severity category rather than Critical.
However, confusion over the corrected Paint version has complicated patch checks for Windows administrators.

‼️Breaking - OpenSSH Flaw Could Let Attackers Bypass Password Authentication on Alpine Linux Servers
Details: cybersecuritynews.com/openss…
A critical OpenSSH password authentication bypass could let remote attackers access affected Alpine Linux servers without knowing a password.
Portable OpenSSH 10.6p2, released on November 5, 2026, adds a workaround for the flaw, which affects certain Linux systems using musl libc when PAM support is disabled.
Alpine warns that exploitation needs only one connection and no repeated attempts when the required conditions are present. The attacker must know a suitable account name and reach the server’s SSH port.

DeepSeek still ships under plain MIT. The same license as R1.
No user caps.
No rules for inference providers.
No "contact us if you are big".
Qwen, Kimi, GLM and Step all added conditions for providers this year. I get why. DeepSeek did not.
And look what MIT gives back.

3 independent quants of V4.1 Flash, all 3 tested on my 4x 3090 this week.
Anyone can take the weights, cut them, fork the engine and publish the result. No lawyer needed.
V4.1 Flash runs at home because of that.
Thank you, DeepSeek. Keep it MIT.

Cat Praised as Hero After Helping Stop Mountain Lion Attacks.
A small Montana neighborhood had already lost three dogs in late night attacks when residents began keeping pets inside and watching their yards more closely. One of the dogs belonged to a local wildlife officer, who had been helping track the mountain lion believed to be responsible. Then one homeowner got a Ring camera alert. Their dog was outside when the mountain lion entered the yard, but the family cat rushed at it long enough for the dog to get back toward the house. The noise woke the owners, who called wildlife officials immediately. Using the fresh sighting and camera footage, officers were able to track the mountain lion, capture it and relocate it away from the neighborhood. When the officer who lost his own dog was asked if he had any hard feelings toward the mountain lion, he said, “No. The mountain lion was doing what mountain lions do. That cat was protecting his friend and, this time, did the job I wish I could’ve done before.”
