A natural complement to the Christian Book Endorsement Awards, it's time for the Yellow-Orange Hued 'Back to the Camera' Missionary Book Awards:
Just in case anyone's missing my collection of yellow-orange hued 'back to the camera' missionary book covers, here's some released this month to go with the others.... (the 3rd one is a very good example of how you really need to check your AI images before publishing them...)

I think social media would actually be better if men were banned unless supervised by a competent woman
Christian nationalist pastor Brian Sauvé says women should not have access to social media unless "some competent man is curating and blocking and directing and taking a look at what's going on." peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch…

I found this a deeply challenging (and in true Barnabas style, encouraging) sermon - really grateful to work with such excellent colleagues who keep pointing us to Jesus.
Was really pleased to have the chance to speak on the wonderful Barnabas, and more importantly the wonderful Jesus so graciously and powerfully and fruitfully at work in him. Full sermon in link below. Preaching part II tomorrow.

My favorite AI joke: Current models are getting close to PhD-level intelligence. After that, they're expected to achieve the intelligence of someone who decided not to do a PhD.

And it is so so so easy for some of us to think, "Well people are better at understanding my English than I am at speaking their language," and then not making the effort. And yet our stumbling weakness can be worth the struggle, in God's way of doing things.

A staggering graph. 32 to 73. Surely no-one in 1900 would have dared to even dream this might happen.

We're attacking Christian missions so I have a few thoughts: - Yes, you're right. 200 years ago when missionaries were fairly new people made mistakes. Parenting was a huge one. Adoniram Judson, Carey, Livingstone. They did amazing things but failed as parents. - Do you think missionaries today don't know these stories? Ask ANY mission agency today and it's the first thing they'll tell you is how they take care of kids. They are all aware it was a failure in the past. - Pastors kids have a bad reputation for the same reason. People putting ministry above family wasn't just a mission problem. Should we abolish pastors as well? - A lot of you like J Gresham Machen for standing up to liberalism. Did you know he split from his denomination pushing real missions? While they were sending people to feed the hungry they weren't preaching Jesus. He sent people who preached Jesus and it became a huge issue with his liberal denomination. You see Machen loved missions and so there's no way he'd be on your side of hating it. "Missions is dangerous. Kids can get hurt." You don't say? Everyone who goes knows that. But not every mission field is severely dangerous. And if people are called by God, then the safest place for them is in God's hands. I know people who have lost children on the field. It's horrible. You can't imagine the anxiety we feel about small medical problems and how they become emergencies in places with poor healthcare. So pray. Look down if you must but know these overseas workers are desiring to follow God. And if it weren't for missionaries and people willing to share the Gospel none of the "Christian countries" today would be Christian.

“Western churches, theologies, and missions aren’t the future. We’re part of the future, as important as any other part of the global church. But we’re not the future.”

The U.S. needs to review its security relationship with Uganda. Gen. @mkainerugaba's attacks on free speech, including shuttering major media houses this weekend, make him & the UPDF unfit partners. We should only work with those who advance regional security, not diminish it.
