Good to see that Labor, who rejected a bill I introduced in 2018 to stop political interference in the #ARC, has finally accepted the need for the ARC to be given autonomy to make decisions over research grants. This is a victory for the #research community and the Greens. 🧵

How in the fuck do we live in a country where women make up more than half the population and pay almost half all government taxes and sports club memberships yet STILL a group of shitfucked men at the @AFL (which sucks up enormous dollars in government funding) were able to quietly refuse to accommodate a huge international women’s sporting event simply because it might slightly inconvenience a domestic men’s sporting event and this news caused NO media push-back or outrage at any fucking time since … #NewsCorpse

Now that the true depth and cruelty of this appalling episode is confirmed the political media should review why some allowed themselves to be used, why others lacked curiosity and why most underreported the royal commission.

Excited to share our work using phages to identify bacterial pathogens in sepsis. Because phages are highly specific for their bacterial hosts, they offer strain-level resolution that could enhance cell free DNA diagnostics nature.com/articles/s41564-0…
