For all the Millenials and GenZ’s complaining about greedy boomers and their lavish social security benefits. Those boomers were your age in 1983 when the program was going broke and they had their SS taxes raised and their retirement age pushed out to fix it. And they too believed they wouldn’t see a dime when they retired because of those greedy Greatest Generation old folks. It’s your turn. Suck it up.

It is disheartening to watch the up and coming generation getting fully behind throwing their elders under the bus on Social Security because they don't want to pay into it like we were forced to. That money was taken from us and it WILL be payed back one way or another. So go to work, pay your taxes like every generation before you, and shut the hell up. You don't understand now because you aren't old yet, but you will be someday, and there might be a generation of even nastier people than you looking to sink the same knife in your back.

Right there with you. I remember when I hit the $12,000 a year mark. I felt like I’d made it. Of course that was with 25 hours a week of OT. We were paying a mortgage of 13% & car loan of 12%. But let’s hear the younger whiners cry about how easy life for us has been.

I work in the AI industry. I burn about 1.5 billion tokens a week. Between personal and business I have 8 AI subscriptions. And I still think I am falling behind the accelerating rate of change. The last three months alone have been a quantum jump in capabilities. Nobody outside the industry understands how insane this is going to be. Like a whole other industrial revolution, but compressed into 10 years. Nobody is ready for the societal implications. It's going to be a 10.0 earthquake plus an F5 hurricane all at once, globally.

I made $1.75 an hour in 1974 with a pregnant wife and son on the way. I volunteered for every over time chance I could, so we could survive! I made $8.00 an hour into the late 80’s. My wife worked as well, so we could provide for our two children! I’m so sick of all these ME youngsters of today!

I'm one of those boomers. Go Fuck Yourself. I'm 76, I worked since I was able to understand money. At 11 I had a paper route. At 14 I received my first cash payment after, I paid into SS and the take all government. I've paid into SS until 1983 when I got a got a semi government job, just before, Regan and Moynihan, changed the system. I had earned my 40 quarters. But because of that duo, my SS when I retired was cut 66 percent due to the Windfall Elimination and Pension Offset bills that were not repealed until 2025. If these crybabies today had a real education or skill, they would not be in trouble today. If our jobs were not sent overseas and 60 million illegals allowed to come here over the last 30 years, they would be ok. So don't blame Boomers because politicians sold out our country.

Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds. Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported? Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem. So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.
