This causes 99% of anxiety when approaching new tech. Use the simplest, dumbest, and “explain it to me like im 5” style of writing and it will expand your audience and user base.
A lot of my writing is fueled by my frustrations trying to learn things, like "Wait, all that impenetrable jargon and THAT'S all you were trying to say? Why didn't you just SAY SO?". So I try to make the explanation I wish I'd found.
Very cool to see other great companies like @HashiCorp supporting and implementing the Gateway API for uniform, industry-standard networking!
Lots of big announcements today around Consul. The big one: we announced the Consul API Gateway, an API gateway built on top of Envoy built right-in to Consul. It integrates with the Kubernetes Gateway API so you can use standard K8S resources to manage it hashicorp.com/blog/announcin…

Features of @GoogleCloudTech Google Kubernetes Engine that NO other K8s provider has or are rapidly copying ... ✅ Autopilot ✅ Backup ✅ Multi-cluster Ingress ✅ OOTB SRE Dashboards with ASM ✅ Config Management across clouds
OH: “They went from an RFP company to a PoC company and that changed everything.” An RFPs is a waterfall process, which assumes you know all your requirements from the start. We stopped doing this in development but it still exists in software acquisition.

Private Service Connect for GKE is pretty nifty! It lets you connect to services across VPCs (or even organizations). This opens up a lot more flexibility in network design using GCP. You don't need all your VPCs to be interconnected and share IPs. cloud.google.com/kubernetes-…

A big milestone for Gateway API today - we released our first release candidate for v1alpha2: github.com/kubernetes-sigs/g…. I'm biased, but I think this is our best release yet. It's exciting to see all the implementations already working to support this version.

Another great reason to develop open source software: Building in the open allows the ecosystem to self-integrate into a more cohesive whole. This helps everybody, even the corporations who resource the OSS work (1/2).

Example: The @kubernetesio Gateway API is developed openly which allowed @JetstackHQ and cert-manager to build automatic cert generation on top of Gateway resources: jetstack.io/blog/cert-manage… No meetings or executive alignment, just people self-organizing on the internet. (2/2)

Completely agree w/ @ChurchOfMark -- especially #2. We saw that proxies first became hyper-specialized (API GW, KIC, Sidecar) and now they’re converging back to a single, intelligent and identity-aware proxy. Kubernetes Gateway API is crucial here. #NGINXSprint #nginx #kubernetes

The new GCP Private Service Connect is rad! Producers can offer private load balanced services. Consumers can attach remote services on private IPs they control in their VPC. Both can manage firewalls independently without coordination or public IPs. cloud.google.com/vpc/docs/pr…
