This is a total misreading. Austen writes the Bennets as complementary failures: her vulgarity and hysteria vs his sarcasm and neglect. Their daughters’ problems flow directly from that. Their marriage shows what happens when you marry without regard to character. Mrs. Bennet isn’t heroic. Both Mr and Mrs Bennet are warnings to the reader, in direct contrast to the Gardners who are loving and kind and responsible.

This is true conversion practice, when a whole social milieu has persuaded a girl that she is actually male. This is a dreadful medical scandal that is being supported by the state. Stop modern conversion practice: stop encouraging children to believe falsehoods.

Detached entitled bureaucratic spivs. Soft corruption with a brass neck. Hate is a very strong word, but I do hate what they are doing to our country. Time to think anew, and act anew. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

From my Facebook memories. Not a spoof but an actual Scottish Government consultation paper. No wonder approximately 1 in 4 adults (26.7%, or about 931,000 people) in Scotland experience challenges due to a lack of literacy skills compared to England (18%), Wales (12%), and Northern Ireland (17.4%).

Even though I'm having a really good day, so far my day has been surrounded by 💩. I'm quoting a post from earlier today. A documentary on how🧻 is made. It's really not a documentary, it's more of a mockumentary. This comedian really knows how to make you think about💩 and stuff. 🤣🤣🤣
One of my favorite shows has to be modern marvels. I love seeing how certain things were developed and improved over years. Stuff that we use everyday like this product here. This is very interesting to hear how toilet paper was created. I'm glad they took this documentary very seriously🧻🚽💩🤣🤣🤣.

I see John Lewis has quietly re-edited its Christmas ad in the hope nobody will notice. Gone: the scenes of the feral grandkids misbehaving. Gone: the useless, gormless looking parents. It’s too late, guys. We've all seen the original. Deleting is cheating. #JohnLewisChristmas

The mainstream media lectures us constantly….yet happily platforms the creepiest guys imaginable. From David Walliams and Russell Brand to paedophile apologists like Stephen Fry and Peter Tatchell. They’re not even hiding in plain sight.
1./ 🧵Stephen Fry and Britain's Failure to Take Child Abuse Seriously. Our headlines are dominated by the scandal of institutions that refused to protect girls for fear of seeming "racist". My latest article suggests Stephen Fry's knighthood is from the same copybook. 1/of 21

As an economist I say: fabulous! You know something? I have loved data and times series since my early days in faculty. I built macroeconomic databases and later run models. But what I discovered is worse than what Sir Cowperthwaite found out. Government officials not only try to plan & steer the economy, they are increasingly managing, adjusting & sometimes manipulating the data itself. Not so much from evil intent, but out of geopolitical and political competition. They are weaponising assets, laws and even data. There are so many data quality and consistency issues, I stopped fully relying on official data from the G7 and China back in 2022. I looked at them, but with lots of caution. I am asking since 2006 for GDP and inflation to be measured by an independent body and to be audited as well by independent economists. Currently .. the same government printing money and incurring in giant deficits is the one measuring inflation. That cannot end well. As a result inflation is now everywhere outside the CPI, in the stock market and housing market etc. Life in the West has become unaffordable for the majorities.

Sir John Cowperthwaite ran Hong Kong's finances from 1961 to 1971 and treated regulation like a tax on discovery. Nobody in government can know which business will work, so he refused to pick, plan, or protect. Whitehall sent officials to Hong Kong to push for economic statistics, and he sent them home. When Milton Friedman asked in 1963 why he collected so little data, Cowperthwaite answered: "If I let them compute those statistics, they'll want to use them for planning." Numbers give planners a reason to act, and every plan arrives as a rule that tells entrepreneurs what they may not try. Asked what poor countries should do to grow, he said they should abolish the office of national statistics. He rebuffed tariffs, opposed corporate subsidies, and refused London's push to raise taxes. When a legislator proposed that the government back promising industries, he asked how the government could possibly know which ones those were. The results arrived without a plan. During his decade as Financial Secretary, real wages rose 50% and the share of residents in acute poverty fell from 50% to 15%. When he took the job, the average Hong Kong resident earned about a quarter of what a Briton earned. By the early 1990s, Hong Kongers out-earned Britons. Britain, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, planned its economy with ministries full of statisticians and fell behind a rock with no resources except a harbor. Every regulation assumes a regulator who knows which experiments to allow. That regulator does not exist, so each gate he builds blocks the ideas nobody in the room could have predicted. Hong Kong's most valuable policy was the absence of a gatekeeper. As far as civil servants go, this guy is the GOAT.

To co oglądacie to ilustracja jak wygląda ostateczny koniec zaufania do państwa i systemu bankowego. Paragwaj płonie. Jeszcze w poniedziałek ueno bank był dumą paragwajskiej bankowości. Pierwszy cyfrowy bank w kraju, jeden z pięciu największych banków komercyjnych i oficjalny sponsor narodowego sportu. We wtorek rano do ueno bank wkroczyli przedstawiciele banku centralnego. W Asunción doszło do starć z policją. Tłum żąda teraz impeachmentu samego prezydenta. Dlaczego prezydenta, skoro upadł prywatny bank? Bo to nie był zwykły prywatny bank. Peña był udziałowcem holdingu Ueno jeszcze w 2025 roku. Odkąd objął urząd, do Ueno płynęła rzeka publicznych pieniędzy.

I look forward to the day when Peter Tatchell’s chickens come home to roost. The man is a walking red flag.
Here again is @PeterTatchell arguing that 9 year old children benefit from being raped by adult men. Now ask yourself: why would a man like this support a bill that will alienate kids from their loving, supportive parents?
