If you're looking to score 4-8 more points per game, may I suggest making it a point of emphasis to pass, not dribble, the ball across half court. (We jumped from 86 to 92 PPG last year after instituting this...) We'll practice 5v5 FC with a rule you have to pass across HC if someone is ahead of you or it's a turnover. Guys will start running once they see it's an easy 2-4 more points for their averages.

I’ve always been a fan of the athlete who may not be the most talented on the team, but shows up every day, works hard, stays coachable, supports their teammates, and refuses to give up. Sometimes, the athletes who teach us the most aren’t the ones putting up the biggest numbers.

Have you guys ever seen these HS wannabe barstool pages on socials? Talk about growing up and never being punched in the face. Talking all the trash they want from behind a screen. AI, photoshop, etc. Kids running these pages saying whatever they want with no consequences. Some of the stuff is extremely degrading and malicious. Can't believe they are allowed to have these pages. Schools shouldn't allow these. Have to be better!

Stop hunting shots you can't make. You're not making yourself look better. College coaches aren't looking for that anyway. If most would just play to their strengths they would increase their chances of being recruited. You can actually do less and be more valuable.
It's still fascinating after 54 years. The two guys that didn't hunt shots looked the best. They just played hard and let the game come to them. End result? They looked great.

It's not Rocket Science!
All this talk about mid-range jump shots make me laugh because it’s super simple… If you have a player who shots it at a high clip, encourage them to take them. If you have a player who doesn’t, don’t let him shoot them… Layups are only good shots to someone who can finish. Open threes are only good shots to someone who can make them. Free throws are only effective if you can step up and knock them down. Come on people.

Joe Mazzulla on reports of the Celtics vibes being high at training camp "Every team you lead is the most together team right now. Because we haven't traveled. No one's gotten benched. No one's been on a losing streak. No one's gotten blamed in the media. No one's had to go stand in the corner for 10 minutes and not get the ball. So, you learn those things as the season goes on, and you just learn how to work through those things together. And you can't simulate those. It just comes with time. And so, right now I would say all 30 teams feel great about themselves, and we got to wait till adversity hits. And adversity is even a strong word. There's nothing really adverse about playing in the NBA. But we got to wait until stuff doesn't go your way, and then you got to figure out who we are and how we're going to be at our best." End the handshake line "tradition" at every level in every sport. And do not lecture me on the need to show sportsmanship. If you know you know - there are more effective ways to teach kids "competitive respect" than forcing everyone into tight quarters immediately after a game

I will start out by saying ...Yes I am jealous of all the help but seriously how many people does it take to get a ball back to the next guy in line. I would be yelling at everyone to get the heck out of the way.

Please tell me a team that doesn’t want elite level shooting on the floor. Doesn’t exist. Allllllll teams crave that skillset An elite shooter can impact the game without even shooting. The spacing they create and defenses inability to help off creates chances for teammates

As an Athletic Director, I believe we live in an era where too many high school athletes are chasing the scholarship instead of embracing the grind, development, and process that will make them better. We also live in an era of the transfer portal, where opportunities for high school athletes are becoming more limited. My advice to every athlete who wants to play at the next level is simple: Focus on what you can control. Control your effort. Control your attitude. Control your development. Control how you respond to adversity. Control how you show up for your team every day. Don’t let the pursuit of a scholarship take away from the experience of becoming the best version of yourself. If you commit to the process, embrace the grind, and become the best player and person you can be, you will have no regrets. The scholarship should be a byproduct of your development, not the sole purpose of your journey. Trust the process. Earn your opportunities. Become the best version of yourself.

Ball screen action a set or a concept? What if I call a cross/down screen set? Is that a set, an action or a concept? What if you get nothing out of cross/down screen and concept is to flow into a get action? Is that a set an action or concept? I'm CONFUSED! 😂

Alongside every elite player is a knock down shooter who simply makes open shots and keeps the defense honest. And for those stars without a knock down shooter? Life gets exponentially more difficult.

Same game. Three completely different thought processes: AD: Is everything taken care of? Tickets, concessions, officials, field, parking, visiting team, press box, announcer, security. Coaches: Are we prepared? Hudl, game plan, execution, meetings, players, play calling, adjustments. Parents: Is my kid playing? Highlights, outfit, tailgate, tickets, where are we sitting? Same game. Different lenses. That’s athletics.

If you are getting to watch your Kids today performing or playing Sports , you can’t have a bad day. There’s nothing that should take away your Joy of those hours, minutes or moments. It’s priceless. Don’t waste it getting mad about something that’s nothing or mad at someone.

You have to have guys that can SPACE the floor and make 3s on the floor. It makes the game easier for everyone.
Shooting 10x’s every single skill in basketball because the defense must operate in less space. This distorted defensive spacing increases: - handle - passing - off ball/gravity assists - offensive rebounding opportunities - tradition offense And by default, MPG increases which allows for more overall competitive reps. This compound effect works negatively in the exact same manner. If you can’t shoot, there usually isn’t minutes for you; if there is, those minutes are typically ‘specialized’.
