Disagree. SCA had much larger victory margins against playoff competition and San Tan Charter’s win over Chandler Prep was better than any of Willcox’s win. And counting forfeits/cancellations against SCA and STC like they wouldn’t have won like 50+ is silly.

Watching my team play last night without being able to coach was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
In a big rivalry game last Friday, two UNI penalties were called on back-to-back plays over players’ knee pads, resulting in my ejection. One player was wearing knee pads, but the official said they were not big enough. I’ve never seen another coach ejected for that, and I didn’t disrespect the official before or after the ejection.
We appealed, and the suspension was reduced from two games to one. The message was still that I needed to be “held accountable.”
I understand my responsibility as head coach, but I believe this punishment was disproportionate. An equipment issue cost me the chance to stand beside my seniors and coach them on Senior Night. That hurts.

Yes, you are right. But, as a coach are you ok with not being able to control your own destiny with a win?

The MaxPreps experiment had good intentions, but when winning gets you penalized, it's time to admit the system needs work. There HAS to be a better way to rank teams and determine playoff seeding in AZ.
I tried to be supportive and understand it but not so sure about it now.

Next stop: Scottsdale Community College!
The field, stands and Fighting Artichokes scoreboard remain. The return of JUCO football has also become an issue in the 2026 Maricopa Community College Governing Board election. Candidates John Crow, Ryan Caracciolo, and Susan Winder are running on a platform that includes bringing JUCO football back and expanding skilled trades and healthcare training.
What do you remember about SCC football?
