LeBron James-Larry Bird Comparison Sparks Heated Debate Dan Patrick just sparked a heated debate by saying Larry Bird at his absolute best was better than LeBron James. And he isn't backing down. 👀 Bird won THREE consecutive MVP awards from 1984 to 1986, averaging 26.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. During that stretch, he led Boston to two NBA championships. LeBron had an incredible peak of his own from 2008 to 2013, winning four MVP awards in five seasons and capturing two championships with Miami. But Patrick made an important distinction. He believes LeBron had the better overall career, while Bird at his absolute peak was the better player. And that's where the debate gets interesting. Larry Legend played in a different era, dominated without today's advantages, and established himself as one of the greatest players basketball has ever seen. LeBron's longevity and career numbers are extraordinary. But when we're talking about peak performance, basketball IQ, clutch moments and pure dominance, Bird deserves to be part of the conversation.
