Leadership happens in the gray area. I help people navigate conflict, power dynamics, and the tendency to get in their own way so they can make more progress.

I’m excited to announce that my new book, The Antihero Advantage, is out this December and is now available for pre-order! I wrote this book to help people deal with the darker side of leadership that often isn’t discussed. Specifically, how to deal with power dynamics, resistance to change, difficult personalities, inner conflict, and so many of the other battles we’ll all face. Leadership can often be a lonely, messy, full-contact sport. This book gives you a more practical playbook for navigating it. Pre-order here: theantiheroadvantage.com

Don’t chase trends. Share the things that are genuinely interesting to you. In all things, play the long game and double down on who you really are. It's the best way to resist getting gobbled up by the social media engine of f*ckery and fakery.

This book isn’t going to make everyone happy- and IMO, that’s what any decent book should do. At the very least, most would agree that there's no one-size-fits-all way to lead, and that's one of the book's core points. We're sold a lot of societal BS about what's “best” & what's optimal, regardless of context. This book was written to remind people that's not the case.

Leadership comes down to fit. It's situational. You have to know how to become the most adaptable version of yourself to meet the demands of the moment. Not everybody's going to like you. Not everybody's going to agree with you. That doesn't give you permission to act like a despot, but it does mean that you're going to have to learn how to dig deep and pull out sides of yourself that you didn't think you had.

When it comes to knowing what to charge for your services you should think to yourself “what does my team mean to me?” as opposed to “what is my time worth?” It’s not just semantics.

Nothing is better than having a genuine conversation with someone who just “gets it.” That’s @CoachKenVick. One phone call just made my day. Appreciate you Coach!

People rarely defend what’s rational; instead they’ll defend what makes them feel exposed. Remember- if you want to change someone’s behavior you have to be aware of their self image, otherwise you’ll never truly understand what’s likely making them defensive to begin with.

In the amount of time it takes most people to worry about what they should post for social media, they could call five friends and have a real conversation and continue to foster a real relationship. Never mistake validation for true connection.

Live observations from the plane part 72.. Just witnessed a man drifting asleep during take-off execute an Austin Powers caliber judo-chop onto the arm of the person next to him. Bewilderment ensued. Will report back with any further worthwhile details. #TravelTales

Demons come with the job description of being the kind of person who cares a great deal and has high expectations of themselves. Get comfortable with them. Siphon the anxiety they bring and learn how to use it for a larger purpose. They’re not going anywhere.

I have no shame in admitting that this account makes me tear up everytime I see their content. I love being a dad so much & never want my son to lose his imagination or his view of me as his playmate, hero, friend etc. Never let these moments go. They’re everything. 🥹

When things get overwhelming the best you can do is take it moment by moment. Ask yourself- “what’s the smallest, yet meaningful next step I can take?” Do that & let it stack. If you focus on EVERYTHING you have on your plate instead of one small step it’s easier to get stuck.

Either you’ve dealt with them, or you know someone going through either of these three (perhaps all of them) right now. This episode will help!👇 podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
