History matters – a century after insulin’s discovery, we’re going backwards - Healthy Debate
For the record: Big Pharma exploits people who need insulin, charging them a high price for a medicine they would and do die without. @adriandix healthydebate.ca/2022/02/top…

I fully believe Bari Weiss when she says she doesn't care about collapsing ratings. The only reason to care about ratings is profit, and that's not why Larry Ellison, at the age of 82, suddenly went on a frantic shopping spree to purchase Hollywood's studios (Paramount and Warner Bros), news outlets (CBS, CNN), and social media (TikTok).
Ellison is the second-richest man on earth. He is not motivated by money-making in the last stage of his life. He bought all these news and entertainment outlets to turn them into Israeli State TV, to try to stem the rising disgust Americans harbor for Israel.
Ellison is one of Netanyahu's best friends. He's the single-largest donor to Friends of the IDF. His only political cause is Israel. All the key people he and his son hired as Israel loyalists. So Bari Weiss is telling the truth: her job isn't to increase ratings but to convert CBS into Zionist propaganda.
During her on-stage interview, according to the article, Bari Weiss dismissed concerns about weak ratings at 60 Minutes by saying: “I could never build anything if I were focused on the precise number of people that happen to tune in to the second feature on 60 Minutes on a given Sunday.” theinformation.com/articles/…

Shame! Liberals voted against the NDP bill to protect the right to strike. Even so-called “progressive” Liberals fell in line. The Carney government continues to put the interests of foreign investors over the rights of workers.
Here are the receipts:

Why is @MarkJCarney demanding that the UK maintain a corrupt private water system? And is this what he wants for Canada? @MaudeBarlow @avilewis @KevinSkerrett
Wow, I’ve never thought of glucose readings as a weapon before. I guess I was wrong.

This was Copenhagen yesterday.
The European establishment's abysmal failure on Israel/Gasa is not shared by the European public.
The gap between the two is untenable. The public will eventually prevail, but Europe's moral collapse will take years to repair.

Thank-you @judyrebick for this good piece. The @nationalpost needs to dump the editor who allowed a blatant threat against a political leader to be issued on its pages. And where is Mr Antisemitic Crusader @MarkJCarney?
Avi Lewis is a Jewish politician refusing to be silent about Israel’s genocide—and now he’s being threatened with violence.
@judyrebick writes that the lack of uproar reveals just how powerful the pro-Israel consensus remains among Canada’s elite.

I endorse this tweet 100%.
Throwing billions in public money behind a pipeline at a time of climate breakdown – while sweeping aside environmental protections, meaningful Indigenous consultation and workers’ right to strike – is absolutely not in the national interest.
This is just another gift to an oil industry already on track to make $100 billion in wartime profits this year alone. We pay, we take on the risk, and they reap the rewards.

Absolutely diabolical. National Post puts a bullseye on Avi Lewis through the rabid ramblings of Yoni Goldstein who invokes Halakhah and Leviticus on how to deal with Jews. Writing Lewis “presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community” & other Jews are “duty-bound to step in.” This is so irresponsible. The National Post should be stripped of any government funding it receives from Canada. This is wholly negligent and irresponsible.
Disappointment is an understatement. Carney said he supported the US bombing of Iranian school children “with regret" because the strikes appeared "inconsistent with international law".
When Carney gave his now-famous speech in Davos, many of us - perhaps naively - were excited that Canada would emerge as a global leader to reinforce international law and its principles.
Ever since, Carney has worked hard, it appears, to disappoint us.
Here, for instance, he downplays Trump's language of annihilation as mere "war talk" and goes on to repeat the Israeli line that Iran constitutes an existential threat to Israel.
Carney's key point in Davos was that Western states applied international law "with varying rigour depending on the identity of the accused or the victim."
And that is exactly what Carney did here. He downplayed Trump's horrific language (would he have done it if Pezeshkian had uttered those words?) and then went on to indirectly justify the illegal war by repeating Israeli propaganda re Iran's threat to Israel.
Deep inside, I knew he would disappoint. Just not this fast and not this embarrassingly.

Selling public assets isn’t “building Canada”, it’s privatizing public wealth.
Our airports have long been operated in the public interest by non-profit enterprises. This has served us well.
Adding private profits into the mix will undoubtedly increase costs and pressure service.
“If you wake up in the morning as a Liberal, you can be anything by noon.” Dave Barrett
Privatizing airports is a terrible deal for travellers, workers, and the public purse.
Around the world, it has led to higher travel costs, fewer jobs and worse working conditions.
Private equity moguls and fund managers love it! Once they’re in, they own a piece of a natural monopoly, and they print money for decades.
This is a mistake we do not need to make.
The alternative to privatizing our airports is to NOT DO IT.

Shorter: We're saving Canada by selling it.
Mark Carney: "We've had several decades of experience around the world, with the process not of privatizing the airports but moving towards an arrangement where private operators come in to manage the airports for a period of decades, the underlying assets, the underlying airport retained by the government."

Robert Kraft, owner of the Gillette Stadium, called Ed Sheeran and told him Macklemore would not be allowed to perform in his stadium and rallied other stadium owners to collectively tell Ed to remove @macklemore from the tour. Ed caved:
"Ed Sheeran... told me that the words 'Free Palestine' and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, 'I don't take sides'."
@edsheeran took a side alright:
We now have an opportunity to build a united left campaign and sweep the right, including Ken Sim, out of office, Vancouverites deserve a progressive majority on Council.
The people’s primary was a success. Massive shout out to @wazaroff here. Like @builtjustice’s decision, this could not have been easy. Congrats to @PtFry for being the lone progressive candidate. Now we focus on the work ahead to Evict Ken Sim and ABC.
