It is hard to overstate the significance of this development. Historically, AIPAC sustained an aura of invincibility that ensured it won most battles by walkover - if you are perceived as invincible, the other side doesn't even bother to fight you.
Rather than invincibility, AIPAC's name now carries such toxicity that the group doesn't want its own name on its political donations.
SCOOP: AIPAC will no longer endorse congressional candidates or earmark donations to congressional campaigns. The group's super PAC, United Democracy Project, will continue to operate and it will urge members to donate directly to pro-Israel candidates. jewishinsider.com/2026/10/ai…

By now it should be clear to our decision makers: we will not be able to end this war until we meaningfully restrain Israel. The Israelis have thwarted—& will continue to thwart—any deal we attempt to reach with Tehran.
Israel drove us into this war because we let them. The fundamental issue is this administration’s inability to stop our junior partner from acting like our senior partner.
It’s long past time for our leaders to do just that—lead by restraining the Israelis & end this war now.
Netanyahu on Iran:
Mojtaba decided to follow in his father's footsteps. He pulled the trigger, and Iran is once again trying to develop its bombs of death.
Therefore, there is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: to overthrow the regime in Iran.
And that is my directive to the IDF, Mossad and the security services.

NEW: The War Tehran Believes Is Coming
Iran believes the U.S. and Israel will resume the war soon. The White House told me it won't happen before the midterms. Top Iranian official Gen. Mohsen Rezaei tells @DropSiteNews Iran has new targets in its sights.

I have pointed out many similarities between now and February, when the US was engaged in diplomacy, but Trump had already decided to attack.
But there is one significant difference as well.
Back then, Trump was driven by hubris and criminally erroneous Israeli advice. Israel had convinced him that he could bring down the regime in a few days
Today, he appears to be driven by another emotion: Revenge.
There is a vindictive element to his calculations now because of his anger over how Iran has ruined his presidency, as he is likely about to suffer a humiliation in the midterms.
So the push toward a new war is no longer necessarily driven by a (flawed) geopolitical calculation, but rather by one man's need for revenge against a country Trump himself CHOSE to attack...
#BREAKING US embassy staff and families ordered to leave Saudi Arabia, with families of embassy staff in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain also ordered to leave, diplomatic source tells AFP
Elections are only 6 days away in Israel, so obviously Netanyahu signals he will start another disastrous war...
I would take this very seriously.
U.S. Senate candidate @AbdulElSayed (D-MI): "I'm not in the business of defending myself...it's about a whole lot of folks whose lives have been made so much worse because of politics and hate and racism that affects communities in structural ways."

A Very Serious Matter.
A. This must be stated as clearly as possible: There is no justification for launching another campaign against Iran before the election, or immediately afterward. Iran is indeed rebuilding its military capabilities and continuing to expand its power, but there is currently no “smoking gun” requiring an immediate attack, certainly not a military operation that could lead to the postponement of Israel’s elections.
B. It is difficult to ignore the fact that the Iranian issue has become part of Israel’s political calculations. This is an extremely dangerous situation. It could lead Israel into another campaign before there has been a serious professional and public discussion about what failed in previous campaigns, why military achievements did not translate into strategic change, and, above all, what leads anyone to believe that another campaign would accomplish what has not been achieved so far. Israel cannot go to war again before understanding why previous wars failed to achieve their objectives.
C. Another point must be understood: anyone willing to go to war two weeks before an election may also be willing to do so immediately afterward. The most important question, therefore, is where the professional leadership stands, first and foremost, the defense establishment, and what it is doing to prevent a move that could drag Israel into a difficult, prolonged campaign with no clear strategic purpose.
A government that has lost its moral and public legitimacy cannot treat launching another war as a routine political decision, especially when the cost could be devastating for Israel’s citizens, economy, and national security.
Another war with Iran is not inevitable. Before deciding to launch one, it is essential to demonstrate that it is necessary, that it has achievable objectives, and that a clear exit strategy exists. At present, none of these questions has received a convincing answer.

Netanyahu pushes to resume strikes against Iran ft.trib.al/HektInH
The current situation reminds me immensely of the days before February 28.
Intense talks were underway, mediated by Oman. Today, Qatar is playing that role.
But just like in February, it seems to me that Trump has already made up his mind and that the ongoing diplomacy is just for show.
Trump has, together with Netanyahu, already decided to restart the war.
In February, Tehran agreed to major concessions, but it was all for naught because Trump thought he could get a better deal by simply removing the regime through war.
Today, due to the misinformation space Trump lives in, he once again appears to have already opted for war because he believes it will give him better results than a diplomatic deal.
Just like in February, it is a devastating miscalculation.
Netanyahu made plans to restart Iran strikes earlier this month
"The Israeli military had prepared for a multi-day bombing campaign to take place on the weekend of October 10 that would have targeted civilian infrastructure such as electricity plants, as well as nuclear facilities and regime targets, according to three people familiar with the matter."

Things are looking very bad. Between Trump's coordination with Netanyahu - his bizarre endorsement of the Israeli war criminal and Heghseth's surprise visit there - troop movements, and perhaps most importantly, a non-starter American proposal, the likelihood of a third round of the war is reaching 90% in my assessment.
As I have pointed out for weeks, Trump pretends the Strait is open and wants to exchange the lifting of the blockade for Iran's 60% HEU instead of a reopening of the Strait.
It's understandable he wants a final deal right away. But it is unrealistic to expect a final deal without final-deal American compromises. As I understand it, Trump is not willing to offer that upfront, but wants Iran's 60% HEU shipped out upfront.
This won't work and will likely lead to a third round of the war - before the midterms and possibly before Israel's elections on the 27th.

NEW: Russia's foreign minister has visited Tehran for the first time since the launch of the Israeli-US war on Iran.
While both sides talked up cooperation and Lavrov explicitly pushed back against the notion that Moscow benefits/seeks instability in the region (to improve its position and drive up oil prices), there's no sign of any progress in Putin's effort to mediate between Iran and the US.
Per a usually well-sourced Iranian conservative analyst, Trump wants Iran to hand over its entire stockpile of highly-enriched uranium in exchange for lifting the maritime blockade. Iran would not get any sanctions relief whatsoever.
More likely than not, a 4th Iran vs. Israel-US war in two years is coming. It will probably entail far more destruction than we've seen so far.

What isn’t, or shouldn't be, a matter of debate are the implications of putting undo pressure and influence to short cut established security processes for the benefit of any single partner nation.
The U.S.-Israel FUTURES Act, as written, would pressure existing security cooperation entities to expand and accelerate bilateral technological integration; an arrangement that lacks clear precedent even among the U.S.’s closest allies.
To protect sensitive U.S. technological development and to ensure congressional oversight is not further abdicated, the House (@HASCDemocrats @HASCRepublicans) should make clear it won’t vote for an NDAA that comes out of conference if it includes this provision, and the Senate (@SASCGOP @SASCDems) should remove or amend its corresponding Section 1217 from the FY27 NDAA and enter into a separate debate over the issue.

🇮🇷🇦🇪 Iran's Revolutionary Guard is reportedly threatening to cut the undersea internet cables the Gulf runs on if the war restarts
Dubai runs on trade, and trade runs on those cables, which is the kind of stability a third round of this war takes away first.
Trita Parsi of the Quincy Institute says Tehran slices the salami, so the cables may sit several rungs up the escalation ladder, but it rarely bluffs on the military side:
"When it comes to these military threats, they've acted on most of them, to the best of my knowledge."
Israel's defense minister has threatened to send Iran "back into the Stone Age" by hitting its energy infrastructure if Iran attacks Israel, so both sides are now naming the infrastructure they would hit first, and the Gulf economies sit between them with no cables and no say.
