How does semaglutide reduce eating?
Surprisingly, while AP GLP-1Rs are recruited by sema, NTS GLP-1Rs are not.
We find an AP GLP-1R→NTS pathway drives sema-induced satiation, nausea & lower food motivation, all separable from satiety

Absolutely thrilled to be selected as a finalist for this award!! I'm very sad I can't make it back to Adelaide for the ceremony, but a massive congratulations and good luck to all the other finalists tonight!!! 🍾
Introducing Dr Lauren Jones - one of our 2024 #SAScienceAwards finalists!
In the running for the PhD Research Excellence Award, Dr Jones’ @Flinders research is creating important advances in our understanding of gut physiology. 🦠

Great to have the opportunity to present to the final year @ucl neuroscience cohort alongside @ConfocalJones and Wanqing Jiang about our careers to date! A great reminder of how no career is ever linear and hopefully encouraging for future young researchers 👩🏼🔬

A new paper from us led by @ConfocalJones and co in human gut tissue showing GLP-1 and PYY secretion decrease with BMI and age depending on the site in the GI tract. The result of many secretion experiments by us over many years
Jones et al.: "negative correlation of GLP-1 [release] and BMI in the small, but not large, intestine. Increased aging correlates with declining secretion of both GLP-1 and PYY in human large, but not small, intestine"💡
