A brief, but intense little snow squall just raced through Columbus. Snow rates were decent, but the winds ~40mph were most most impressive part. Visibility dropped down to ~1/4 mile at times and we probably picked up about 0.1โ€ from the whole thing. #Ohwx

[11:50 AM] One of our survey teams has confirmed that damage near Tipp City was caused by an EF2 tornado. We have three other survey teams out throughout the area, inspecting damage from yesterday's storms. Please see our webpage for additional info: weather.gov/iln/20220608.

Stunning skies here in Plain City, Ohio. Pink anvil tops with lightning, nice storm structure, a roll cloud off into the sunset, and some mini Kelvin-Hemholtz clouds (wave clouds in last picture) to finish off the day. #Ohwx

Some CLASSIC bright banding explosion with some gravity waves in the frontogenesis transition zone in Central Ohio. Regions of all snow are in Dublin, Choctaw Lake, and Westerville as of now, and moving steadily southeast. Columbus will soon be all moderate-heavy snow! #ohwx

[4:00 AM] There are still uncertainties regarding the system for midweek, w/ adjustments to the favored axes for heavy snow, mixed wintry precip (including ice), and rain still likely to occur in the coming days. The impacts will vary wildly from one part of the area to another.

Columbus sits at 1.3" of snow for the season. This is one of the slowest starts to a snow season on record, and the least since the 2006-2007 and 2015-2016 seasons; dating back to 1940. If we fail to amass 3.2" by the 21st, we will be on pace for the least snow since 1918. #ohwx

[12:08 PM] Perhaps the most important part of our message for tonight is the TIMING of the severe weather threat. We're expecting the worst between 3AM and 9AM. Be sure to have a way to receive warnings overnight, even if you are sleeping!

Just taking all the snow in before we torch and it all melts. Roads are covered and a little bit slick here in Columbus. Just measured about 0.25 inches covering the sidewalks. Not bad for this suppressed of a system. #ohwx

First chance of noticeable snow during the day Sunday. With warm surface temps and mixing, snow will struggle to accumulate. However, some light accumulations are possible. #ohwx
