Today we wish Horace Smith a Happy Birthday!
In 1852, Horace Smith and Daniel Baird Wesson forged a partnership to manufacture a firearm that can fire a fully self-contained cartridge. It wasn't until 1856 that the Smith & Wesson Revolver Company was formed, producing the .22 caliber rimfire cartridge and the revolutionary Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 bore-through revolver to fire it.
The technology transformed the firearms industry, putting an end to the percussion firearms of the time.
Smith sold his stake in the company to Wesson and retired in 1874.

Thais Gibson (Personal Development School) explains three reasons fearful-avoidants often stop responding:
Hypervigilance — Early chaos trained them to stay locked into the present environment. When someone is out of sight, remote connection drops. This is why they can be fully present in person yet go silent over text.
Burnout — The same hypervigilance plus boundaryless giving exhausts them. Once depleted, they withdraw because they feel they have nothing left to give.
Nervous-system regulation — They stay in fight-flight mode too long (high cortisol/adrenaline). This creates repeated burnout cycles and makes rest hard to access.
