South Korea unveils a $A1.1 trillion energy transition strategy, aimed at expanding renewables and transforming the country’s heavy industry, and the opportunities for Australia are huge

Don’t rush it though. Stamp duty was introduced in 1694 (not a typo) as a ‘temporary tax on parchments’. No rush.
Blame vague climate laws for High Court rewriting them afr.com/policy/energy-and-cl… - we all live on the same planet and so exported scope 3 emissions might as well be emitted here in Australia. Global warming doesn't respect borders or human constructs like the Paris Agreement.

The High Court has recognised what the physics makes clear: you can’t export coal & pretend the climate damage disappears.
Whether fossil fuels are burnt in Australia or overseas, the consequences reach the Great Barrier Reef & communities around 🇦🇺. Yet the Albanese govt continues to approve new coal & gas projects.
We should stop expanding fossil fuels, use what we have for the transition & make sure Australians get a fair return from existing projects.

I spent all my working life in coal mines before retiring in 2020. Since then I have become a passionate advocate for establishing renewable industries in areas where coal mines will close

Congratulations News Corp -- ten great years of appearing in the ATO's company tax data without paying a cent in tax on tens of billions of revenue!
But keep on lecturing us about how the country should be run!

The most important imperative for Australia is to get rid of diesel. It is a no brainer for the economy, for national security and the environment. But there is no policy

Send him home.
Not correct. Super tax breaks are ‘notional’ tax expenditures - like the fact that the family home is exempt from CGT. Tax that could be imposed, but isn’t for policy reasons. The Age Pension is an annual cash cost. Not the same thing at all. Super doesn’t ‘cost’ anything.
A federal coalition govt would “take a chainsaw to Labor’s ideologically driven, energy restrictive approach to energy,” says Dan Tehan. Irony is that regional Australia will benefit most from decarbonisation. Skills, money, jobs, revitalisation - gold rush/wool boom combined.
We can breathe easy. Global AI experts @DonaldTrump and @JDVance are on the case. Phew! I was starting to get a bit worried there for a while.
Vice President J.D. Vance on Monday raised pointed suspicions about the motives behind Big Tech's growing calls for federal regulation of artificial intelligence. trib.al/wNVOqVk
Either way, a bad policy. One of the many causes of the housing problem is over-lending by banks. Everyone standing around at an auction has $1m in their back pocket that they’ll spend the next 30-40 years paying off. We don’t need to add super to that bonfire.

What a complete jerk this guy is. So out of his depth it is embarrassing.
Witkoff: "President Putin, thank you so much for having us. We were sitting outside just now, me, Jared, Kirill, Yuri, and we were talking about, when we retire, we'll have all these incredible stories and memories, and yours will be right at the top of it all."
Just sickening! So much butt-licking toward a literal war criminal.
Your stories will be of trying to force the victim of horrible aggression to surrender while cozying up to the biggest monster of our time.

🇺🇸 The United States wrote the most sophisticated constitution the world had seen, splitting power between the executive, the legislature and the judiciary so that no single man could ever run the place like a private estate. Then it added a free press, fifty stubborn states, independent agencies, a career civil service and elections every two years, just to be safe.
Two and a half centuries later the executive branch spends its Sunday posting AI-generated geese in blond wigs.
