It will be a huge challenge for Bethesda to compete with Crimson Desert.

I will bet ANYONE $1000 that God of War: Laufey will be profitable and critically-acclaimed.
Nobody will take this bet because they're pathetic cowards who don't actually play games and just want to spread a narrative.
It follows that the guy who made a game that is Pokemon + trendy survival + "cool" guns would defend AI slop designed explicitly to appeal to the most amount of people possible.
Crimson Desert is the definition of safe. It's the gaming equivalent of jangling keys for a baby.

Just say you overvalue conventional game design and leave it at that.
Crimson Desert is one of the most technically ambitious games we’ve seen in the last decade, but because it isn’t another linear narrative RPG with the illusion of freedom, it just keeps getting underrated.
The technical wizardry that goes into making a game this mechanically massive is insane. You don’t have to like every part of it, but surely the sheer ambition deserves some recognition?
I get it though…award season is coming up and I can already hear the excuses for why Crimson Desert won't get the recognition it deserves.

We spend so much time talking about wanting developers to innovate and take risks, but then we turn around and reward the same safe, conventional AAA games over and over and over and over.
Crimson Desert isn’t perfect, but I’d much rather see developers attempt something genuinely ambitious and occasionally fall short than just keep making the same games we’ve been playing for the last 15 years. I don’t think that’s a hot take at all…

It's kinda hard to argue when you look at the state of the games industry. Asian games and developers look to be thriving whilst Western studios are either facing layoffs or being shut down.
