Contemporary all-in-one impact metrics often regress box score actions onto RAPM to find their weights. A fitted model can give a steal about 3 times the value of a point scored leaving us with an opaque number that can't be decomposed into how or the degree they affect the game why not just count em up? Introducing ARC v3 An Expected Box Value Prior RAPM (EBV RAPM) That aims to quantify impact using possession by possession accounting 🧵

In 2001-02, Allen Iverson won the scoring title at 31.4 PPG on 31.7 TSA (-2.8 rTS. ) According to TS Points Added - cost his team 1.8 points per game. Ranked 214th of 216 in shooting PAC, accounting for the massive 38% of team possessions carried, says he was worth +1.2 points per game, ranked 60th of 216. This begs the question: at what point does scoring load start to pay for inefficiency? Is there a third dimension to measuring shooting production? Introducing (P)oints (A)bove (C)ost

Instead of decomposing RAPM by O and D and the resulting 6 factors (shout out @databallr) You can decompose it by Net Possesion Value/Economy by combining TOs with REB PossVal + ShotVal = Impact Essentially how many net possesions are you creating and how much value per possion are you providing? (pts per 100) A short #WNBA Thread

Updated WNBA RAPM today and have been meaning to respond I think the best way to describe this is to describe the difference between usage-rated RTS and play-type RAPM. UW-RTS: how much better than avg ones shoots, scaled by shooting load Play Type RAPM dives into 2 buckets OWN PT RAPM: the shot value associated with the player taking the attempt after accounting for who was on the floor. (Point per attempt) Team On off RAPM: what the action produces while she's on the floor, adjusted for the other nine. (Per 100)

Adjusted win shares: is a third-level derivative of Adjusted Regularized Contribution that blends on-offimpact (RAPM) with a possession-by-possession regression of box score events. AWS converts calculated per-100 value into wins generatated over a replacement level player (WAR), then shares each team's actual wins among its players. rewarding availability and better isolating the raw value of contributions over a given period of play. Caitlin Clark ranks 17th in this with 3.12 AWS and 2.61 WAR, 90th percentile in posession by posession production but only 56th percentile in on-off impact. Genuinely one of the most statistically intriguing players in the W. She's elite, that's so much, but her flaws drag down her overall impact. 99th percentile in shot-making impact 99th percentile in creation load 99th percentile in overall offensive load 97th percentile in playmaking impact 96th percentile in FT Draw she is a complete liability in her team's possession battle: 1st percentile in turnovers 1st percentile in ball security impact The value lost on her turnovers: 38th percentile 38th percentile in steals 14th percentile in offensive rebounds She doesn't help create more possessions, leading to a 3rd percentile defensive impact. For all the points she's creating, . She is giving up just as much. Another reason for her low-ish placement on this board is the fact that she has the lowest minutes played amongst the top 20. A'Ja Wilson, for yet another consecutive year, has been an absolute monster. She is in the 99th percentile in both possession-by-possession production and off-court impact. Her presence numerically accounts for about 40% of Las Vegas's wins this season. carrying 99th percentile scoring load with elite efficiency and rim protection. She is my MVP as of now. Olivia Miles is the W's rookie sensation. Her value mainly comes from her playmaking (93% percentile) and total load (96% percentile). She has twice as much creation responsibility as Wilson and nearly as much scoring responsibility. She's also been defensively extremely sound, specifically in causing her team to win the possession battles through steals and deflections. Kelsey Mitchell has been a pure offensive outlier this season, highest offesnive on/off impact in the league primarily through her shot making. * 61.6% self-created shots (league avg 47.6%) * +10.1 usage weigted Relative TS (95th pct) Her only thing keeping her from challenging A'Ja as the most impactful player in the league is her defense (15th% impact) #wnba

extremely happy to share ~7,500 words introducing and rigorously validating College Adjusted Regularized Production: C-ARC Player valuation metric that blends possession by possession box weighted production with an RAPM - modified for the unique constraints of the colligate game. court-share.com/prism/papers…

🚨My FINAL Big Board for 2026 #nbadraft 🚨 The last few months has been tight for me to focus on the draft but still proud of what I've learned from this class overall. Some HUGE swings in the lotto range which I believe will be worth it in the end. Feel free to ask questions!

Great read
An NBA team uses ~510 unique lineups over 82 gs An average college team uses about 78 in 30. We cannot in good faith measure on/off impact the same way. 🧵on the constraints I found modeling collegiate basketball impact + resulting framework. Paper soon.

Or even better @CourtShareApp is a place where basketball intelligence becomes durable data Your take on cooper flaggs rim finishing in '25 During march, madness is as much as a valuable data point, as is two year r a p m in 2027 And both data points live together
