Alberta has a long history of welcoming a responsible and sustainable number of newcomers to our province who come here, get a job, build a life, and contribute to our province.
Unfortunately, over the last 10 years the federal system has let temporary programs grow far beyond what they were designed for, and it’s putting pressure on the housing, schools and health care every family relies on. Temporary residents contribute about $150 million to our tax base annually, yet the cost to provide services for them is over $1 billion. It’s simply not fair to Alberta taxpayers.
That’s why referendum proposes ways Alberta can:
✔️moderate population growth
✔️prioritize jobs for Albertans
✔️strengthen social services
On October 19, Albertans have a chance to have their say on how immigration works in our province.

Our government will continue investing in public health care that delivers for Albertans.
Airdrie is one of the fastest growing communities in Alberta and we are investing in its future. Once it opens, this new health centre will support:
✅ 1,000 deliveries a year
✅ 30,000 urgent care visits a year
✅ 10,000 surgical procedures a year
This is a major step forward for health care in Airdrie and one that will serve families for generations.

Exciting day in Airdrie!
I was proud to join Premier Smith, MLA Pitt, Mayor Spearman, and our partners at Covenant Health to announce the new Airdrie Health Centre, a major investment bringing urgent care, birthing services, surgical care, primary care and more right to this community.
As Alberta continues to grow, we're working to build a more connected, modern health system that delivers the care Albertans need, when and where they need it.
Grateful to Covenant Health, and to everyone in this community who pushed for this day. Airdrie, this one's for you.

Great to join the grand opening of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta yesterday as we officially began regulating HCAs on February 2nd.
This change brings clearer standards, stronger oversight, and better protection for patients.
It’s also another step toward a safer, more reliable health care system for Albertans.
