we on the left would never complain about peltola being the 51st vote. these democratic consultants are insane, they have no base, no constituency- they represent corporate paymasters, the mic and israel and nothing else. keep outing yourselves.
2WAY: Democratic strategist says he’d rather lose the Senate than Abdul El-Sayed become the 51st vote. “I think we have no moral clarity as a party if we spend the last 10 years talking about Donald Trump, all his imperfections and failings and outright malevolence, and the failure of Republicans to call it out, and then along comes a guy who hangs out with Hasan Piker.”

Sure, Anthropic may have stolen all the world's intellectual property, destroyed the education system, incited mass layoffs among the corporate class, devalued all art and destroyed social trust but somehow they also managed to lose $80 billion in the first half of 2026

Another recent poll found that blue collar voters and Latinos preferred politicians like AOC and Sanders to Jeffries, Schumer and Pelosi by 9 points and 30 points, respectively. images.jacobinmag.com/wp-con…
Voters do not want Democrats to support the DSA's platform. In a Sept. survey, respondents were far less likely to vote for a Democrat who calls themselves a socialist, supports defunding the police, or champions prison abolition

the moderate pundit playbook - push candidates to move to the center then celebrate their centrism - when those candidates lose, say they didn’t move far enough - when progressives win, say they should’ve won by more - when progressives succeed, say they’re actually moderates

Taylor Swift released the single “Patient Zero” on September 25, 2026. That same day a 28 year old technician at the Irkutsk Anti Plague Research Institute reportedly broke a test tube containing live plague bacteria. She was hospitalized days later with severe pneumonia and died October 2, 2026, the same day “Patient Zero” reached No. 1 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart.

We need to regulate AI for all of the existential threats it poses to our climate, economy, and democracy, but we cannot expect the very people who got us into this mess to self-regulate their way out. Congress needs to act now and guard against ANY corporate influence.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. There is hereby declared a general amnesty for everyone who believed the risks of AI are fake hype. The rogue agents are out there hacking stuff and the companies are covering it up. Time to come in from the hype cold and wake up to the threat. @OsseChi said it well, that if it turns out it was truly all hype (it’s not) you haven’t really lost anything. The bubble doesn’t depend on you believing it or not, but to take political action, mass awareness is necessary.
People like this could literally be getting hunted by a drone piloted by Fable 7.2 and they’d still call it a marketing stunt. They’ve buried themselves in a perfect epistemic tomb—no new information can reach them. Everything can be dismissed as hype. Anyone who has built themselves an ideology which can ignore all new information—because the information can be labeled fake (in this case, “marketing” etc)—is not someone you should trust, emulate, or respect. It is a deeply self-serving, self-soothing, self-satisfied way of approaching the world. It is entirely about satisfying their own egos and comfort. It is deeply cowardly. It is embarrassing. This is not the kind of person or the kind of position you should take seriously or be afraid to offend.

[seeking investors]: so we've invented a machine that dilutes all of human creative endeavour, so that, someday soon, nothing will have the capacity to provoke wonder; that we hope will render every task futile and joyless; and the good news is, we also expect it to kill us all
