It’s also kind of ridiculous how people talk about the Iran war like we’re bogged down in the Somme. It is basically a naval blockade.

I'm a landlord, and I hate bad landlords as much as the next guy,(honestly probably MORE, because slumlords give the rest of us a bad name)... But what St. Paul Voters just passed Tuesday night is completely NUTS. Nearly 80% of St. Paul Voters,(92,045 to 24,469) just passed Question 1, the so-called "Right to Repair" ordinance. Here is what they actually just voted into law: A tenant sends a written repair notice. If the landlord doesn't have it scheduled or fixed within 14 days, the tenant can do "simple" repairs THEMSELVES,(or hire someone on their own) and deduct up to $500 or HALF a month's rent,(whichever is higher) straight off the rent check. Think about how insane that is in the real world... Over HALF of St. Paul's housing stock is ~100 years old. Good luck getting a specialty part or a licensed plumber/boiler tech out on a 100-year-old St. Paul duplex inside 14 days in the dead of a Minnesota winter. Now picture a tenant deciding to DIY the plumbing or electrical themselves and handing you a receipt and half a rent check... 🤦‍♂️ And here's the kicker: this measure was SO unworkable that even the St. Paul City Council voted in August to keep it OFF the ballot,(activist groups had to sue all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court just to force it on). When an idea is too radical for the St. Paul City Council, that should tell you everything! Look, nobody defends actual slumlords. Minnesota ALREADY has strict habitability laws, city housing inspectors, and rent-escrow courts where bad landlords get hammered legally. Remember 2021 when St. Paul Voters passed the strictest Rent Control in the country because the ballot language sounded nice...new apartment permits crashed ~80% overnight while developers fled across the river, and the City spent years trying to walk back the damage? Watch what happens next here: Mom-and-pop landlords who own a duplex or a 4-plex aren't going to deal with DIY tenant "repairs," liability nightmares, and half-checks every month. They're going to sell out to giant corporate landlords with legal departments on retainer,(or pull those units off the rental market completely). Fewer rentals, higher insurance, bigger corporate landlords, and EVEN HIGHER rent for the exact tenants who just voted 79% Yes for it. Every single time...if only there was a way to see this coming.

Helen Andrews was right. 15 years after taking student loans, men have paid them down substantially compared to women who have barely made a dent. Lower pay, longer career exits, and especially the 2007 Public Service Loan Forgiveness racket which erases the debt for employees of nonprofits or a 501(c)(3). So effectively, taxpayers are literally funding the college degrees of an army of women who then staff the NGOs and advocacy shops actively wrecking the country. If these women had to pay for their own education with their own careers instead of offloading it onto everyone else, they surely wouldn’t outnumber men on campus.

This money will be gone by 2039 – at Eagan, MN
While all the races in Minnesota got the headlines Tuesday, almost nobody noticed what Voters just passed with Amendment 1... Back in 1858 Minnesota set up a Permanent School Trust Fund from 2.5M acres of mining and timber land...today it sits at $2.4 Billion For 168 years the State Constitution kept the Principal "perpetual and inviolate"...meaning Politicians could ONLY spend the interest and dividends,(about 2.5% a year) and couldn't touch the nest egg How did they sell Amendment 1 on the ballot? "More money for schools without raising taxes"...so of course 73% voted Yes Here is what it ACTUALLY did: - Stripped "perpetual and inviolate" right out of the Constitution - Bumped the payout to 4.5% of the fund's value,(so in a down market it eats straight into the Principal) - Put that 4.5% cap in regular Statute instead of the Constitution...and killed a 2/3 supermajority rule in committee 7-1 Oh and remember...Democrats just took total control of St. Paul right before a brutal 2027 budget deficit So now a Simple Majority can crank that payout higher whenever they run short of cash... 168 years of guardrails gone overnight. The founders of this State are rolling in their graves...

According to investigative reporting by Stephen Jimenez, Matthew Shepard was murdered over his role as a drug mule in the Denver to Wyoming meth trade, not because of his homosexuality. His book is very convincing.

This is a total vindication for those of us who wanted to nominate Ron DeSantis in 2024. Not because we hated Trump, but because we saw the virtue of DeSantis. He would have had 6 years left, no lame duck status, and no Iran debacle. Let’s not make the same mistake in 2028.

🚨 EVEN IN BLUE STATES: Voters in Arizona, Nebraska, Colorado and Washington all passed measures keeping men out of women's sports. Nebraska went for it at nearly 68 percent. Arizona passed it 58.9 to 41.1. Colorado did it in a deep blue state during a blue wave. Washington followed. Democrats spent millions telling voters this was not an issue. Voters disagreed everywhere. They can have the gavels. We kept the girls' locker rooms. GOOD.

He's right on this. – at Bloomington, MN
The blame here is on Donald Trump, yes, but at a deeper level it's with the Republican primary voter, the heart of the cult of MAGA. They shouted "give us Barabbas" time and again in state after state. No one made the grown MAGA adults of Texas vote for Ken Paxton. No one.

And each one affects hundreds if not thousands of girls. Laws that benefit every girl in the state while "hurting the feelings" of less than a handful of boys are a net good.
