I had a good call with my friend, Cyprus Foreign Minister @ckombos.
We discussed the Turkish-Libyan maritime boundary agreement, which undermines the rights and interests of several countries in the Eastern Mediterranean.
We also discussed bilateral relations between Israel and Cyprus, as well as Israel’s relations with the European Union.
I will continue working to strengthen the close ties between Israel and Cyprus!

Today, we remember the unimaginable tragedy that unfolded three years ago, following the barbaric terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023.
Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the hundreds of innocent victims, and everyone traumatized by this heinous attack.
Cyprus is steadfast in condemning all acts of terrorism and rejects any form of antisemitism.
We join calls in urging for the disarmament of Hamas and the full implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan under UNSCR 2803, with the vision of paving the way to a two-state solution, with the aim of sustainable peace and security.

I had an excellent meeting today with my dear friend President @Christodulides in Cyprus.
One day, I hope that we can meet here together with the President of Lebanon too.
For this, we must move toward peace in our region, while making sure that the threat of terror is removed.

52 χρόνια μετά, η Τουρκία συνεχίζει να κατέχει παράνομα το 37% της πατρίδας μας, συντηρώντας ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα εγκλήματα της μεταπολεμικής ιστορίας της Ευρώπης.
Για 52 χρόνια αρνείται να δώσει απαντήσεις για την τύχη των αγνοουμένων, διευρύνει τον παράνομο εποικισμό, καταστρέφει τη θρησκευτική και πολιτιστική μας κληρονομιά και στερεί από όλους τους Κυπρίους το δικαίωμα να ζουν ελεύθερα στην πατρίδα τους.
Οι πράξεις της συνιστούν κατάφωρη παραβίαση του Διεθνούς και Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαίου, του Χάρτη των Ηνωμένων Εθνών, της κυριαρχίας, της ανεξαρτησίας και της εδαφικής ακεραιότητας της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, καθώς και των θεμελιωδών ελευθεριών και ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων όλων των Κυπρίων.
52 χρόνια μετά, η πληγή παραμένει ανοιχτή. Οι σειρήνες της τραγωδίας εξακολουθούν να ηχούν. Δεν ξεχνούμε. Δεν συμβιβαζόμαστε. Δεν αποδεχόμαστε τα τετελεσμένα.
Η μη λύση δεν είναι λύση. Δεν συμβιβαζόμαστε με τη διχοτόμηση. Στόχος μας είναι ο τερματισμός της παράνομης κατοχής, η απελευθέρωση και η επανένωση της πατρίδας μας.
Με οδηγό τη μνήμη και το δίκαιο, συνεχίζουμε τον αγώνα μας για μια βιώσιμη και λειτουργική λύση, βασισμένη στα ψηφίσματα των Ηνωμένων Εθνών, στις αρχές, στις αξίες, στο δίκαιο και στο κεκτημένο της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.

Israel reaffirms its unwavering support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus and stands in solidarity with Cyprus, on the anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion.
The ongoing Turkish military presence in the north of the island, alongside Ankara's persistent attempts to alter the status quo through unilateral actions, is unacceptable.
As a strategic partner and neighbor of Cyprus, Israel calls for the resumption of negotiations toward a just, viable, and lasting solution to the conflict.

Ως προς την περιφερειακή κρίση, η κλιμάκωση και η διεύρυνση της οποίας είναι άκρως επικίνδυνη. Οι συνέπειες δε της σύγκρουσης αλλά και η επίδρασή τους είναι οριζόντιες και επηρεάζουν χωρίς διακρίσεις, ειδικότερα την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση από άποψης γεωπολιτικής, οικονομικής, ενεργειακής, ασφάλειας ναυσιπλοΐας και ούτω καθεξής.
Η Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία, ως μέρος της ευρύτερης αυτής γεωγραφίας, αλλά όχι της σύρραξης, ασκώντας επιπλέον τα καθήκοντα προεδρεύουσας του Συμβουλίου της Ένωσης, έχει στις προτεραιότητές μας ως Προεδρία θέσει ήδη έμφαση στην περιοχή και στην ασφάλεια της ναυσιπλοΐας. Αυτά αποτελούσαν και το κέντρο βάρους και κατέστησαν εκ των εξελίξεων αναγκαιότητα για την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.
Συνεπώς, είναι απαραίτητη η παρουσία, η διπλωματική εμπλοκή και ο εσωτερικός συντονισμός της ίδιας της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης. Η Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία σε αυτό το πλαίσιο πράττει αυτό που της αναλογεί και ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών επισκέφθηκε πρόσφατα τη Σαουδική Αραβία, το Μπαχρέιν, και προηγουμένως τα Ηνωμένα Αραβικά Εμιράτα. Οι επισκέψεις αυτές, ειδικά αυτή την περίοδο, αντανακλούν το εξαιρετικό επίπεδο των διμερών μας σχέσεων με τις χώρες αυτές – σχέσεις οι οποίες κτίζονται με δουλειά, συνέπεια και ειλικρίνεια.

We are closely monitoring the developments in the region and remain in constant contact with our Diplomatic Missions on the ground.
In light of this situation, the Special National Plan ESTIA has been activated. ESTIA is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ emergency action plan, enabling the safe evacuation of EU and third-country nationals from nearby crisis areas in the wider Middle East via Cyprus.
The Ministry’s Crisis Management Department also remains active and ready to respond as developments unfold.
