Elliott-Chelsea Houses is one of the better NYCHA developments in NYC. Developers want to demolish it because it sits next to the High Line and Chelsea Market, and developers know that the Black and Latino tenants lack political representation in Chelsea and have no community.

Seems like the intent is to mess with the core protocol of the internet to gatekeep/restrict access. Suddenly a protocol used extensively for decades gets hacked right before an AI bubble bursts, & the AI CEOs are regularly threatening AI attacks on global infrastructure.
So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Yeah, Jon, let’s talk about how Ossoff got that plum gig working for John Lewis at the incredibly young age of 16. Why do you think that is, @jonfavs?
Jon Favreau
@jonfavsOct 3
You can tell that Ossoff began as a John Lewis staffer, as there are echoes of Civil Rights Era messaging here. MLK: “I remember that despair is a luxury that I can’t afford" I’d bet the young people Ossoff spoke to appreciated the answer

never believe a word a politician says, especially not a rich kid who infiltrates social movements with the determined endgoal of a career in politics.
Progressives are pretending Zohran hasn't moved to the right compared to how he campaigned last year

The reason the Boston Globe story took off was bc its whole point was to invite its audience to delight in its framing pitting marginalized groups against each other & revel in the implicit moral to never give marginalized peope an inch to begin with. It's vicious sensationalism.

The model they're perfecting to feed Ukrainian men directly into the meat grinder is going to be perfected and exported back to use on everyone else. Ukraine and Gaza are research laboratories on how to deal with the rest of us
A Ukrainian serviceman describes how mobilized men are taken to the front: locked in a cage on the truck, delivered like cargo, forced to fight. That is a human-rights violation in plain sight. Everyone knows the quiet truth: many Ukrainian men would run if they could. The country has been turned into a cage — an autocracy where life is reduced to survival, speech is punished, and corruption kills any will to fight. Listen to how people are being driven to the line. This war has to be stopped.

Mamdani’s NYPD btw. This could be handled via a ticket with a fine payable to MTA, or even a summons written on the spot with a court date. Instead, officers are given permission to make custodial arrests, haul ppl into central booking, and charge them w/ A Misdemeanors over $3.
don’t hop the turnstile yall just didn’t 24 hours in holding😓
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
In NYC, most turnstile hopping results in a civil fine or warning without arrest. Arrest and extended holding (up to ~24 hours in processing) typically requires priors, no ID or other factors. legalclarity.org/what-is-the-fi… gjllp.com/blog/jumping-a… amny.com/nyc-transit/fa…
