Stokes is a very underrated # 1 prospect — he’s multiple levels above his peers to me. I’m as confident that he’ll be my top 2027 player at the end of the cycle as I was about Flagg and Boozer at this time in their years.
Tyran Stokes vs Duke today in a Exhibition game.. 27 PTS (7-17 FG, 2-7 3PT, 11-15 FTs) 8 REBS 7 AST 1 STL How we feeling now????? Triple double watch type player.. #1 in this draft…

30 three point attempts between LaMelo and Ant in their first game together. Taking a +EV strategy to the extreme is the only way a talent-deficient roster like Minnesota is going to compete with the Thunder or Spurs over 82 or 16. A great start.
Disagreed with many recent Connelly decisions but he’s always early to zag league trends Early adopter of the size movement in DEN and MIN during the 3P obsession and now leaning into volume otd 3s as the way to beat Wemby/OKC. Ant and LaMelo arguably two best in the NBA at that

Shoutout to Rudy Gobert, as well. Your screens and rimfluence make this happen.

The gap between Wemby’s current impact and his current skill level on offense is massive. By many statistical measures, his team and teammates can’t function offensively without him on the court and he’s not even that “good”. Any refinement of his game will devastate the league.

Seems like NBA teams have player nutrition and strength + conditioning in a place where citing conditioning concerns or being overweight as long-term red flags in an eval should be akin to an off-court character issue that requires convincing extrinsic evidence to be bought into.
Dude look how well he runs the floor

Put differently: you better have legit intel that a player doesn’t care about basketball or their body for me to care if they’re fat at 19 or 20 years old. Even then I probably won’t care because they’re 19 or 20 years old.

OKC got taken out by Wemby and decided to fight rimfluence with rimfluence. Aday Mara had an all time finishing, interior passing, and rim protection season, ranking 3rd in my NCAA Rimfluence RAPM metric and is the first of many premium picks made as a direct response to Wemby.
Wemby is - 99th% oRim Assist RAPM - 100th% dRim Assist RAPM - 98th% oTS RAPM - 100th% dTS RAPM His rimfluence removes all variance inside the arc. The reliability of his superpower is why he’s BITW Can only really be countered by a stronger force of variance: launch 3s and pray

No tweet has affected my evaluation paradigms as much as this. So I wrote an article about: 1. My definition of cognition 2. Linking “OAS” theory to cognition 3. Why the cognition found in OAS drives outlier development The debut of my R&D blog, Neural Nets, is live. Link ⬇️
the most important precocious skill integration is oreb-assist-stocks this is the ultimate functional athleticism x feel proxy, a synthesis of skills that exponentially raises ceiling beyond perception of raw box stats/bpm lots and lots of instructive developmental stories here

My first thought of what the ideal Paolo role would look like a more dynamic Sabonis. Last year, DS’ avg shot distance was ≈7 ft. Paolo only had 7 games with an avg shot distance < 7 ft In those games ORL was 7-0 with an ORtg of 135.2 with Paolo on the court He averaged 24/8/6
Replying to @dlee4three
Things we need to see more of: Paolo as a roller Sweeney will have a universal stamp of approval if he can dial down Paolo's ~35% PNR BH usage to about 20-25%, adding more reps for Franz and getting Banchero downhill. Nonsensical for him to pop more than 50% of the time

Fun stat: ORL possessions off a Paolo DREB were 9.5% more efficient and 17% faster than possessions after REBs by a teammate His combo of craft, strength, and pace would be a really interesting as a more trad big while also allowing Orlando to play its best 5 players at once

Moving Paolo up the lineup is also probably the best way to save him from himself Start his possessions closer to the basket, lower his playmaking burden, and playing him near the basket implicitly incentivizes more hustle/“winning” plays + cuts out opportunities to cut corners

At present, Cason Wallace is a lot closer to Lu Dort than people like to admit Will be a great test case for where offensive dev comes from. Has the priors and some flashes — can he get there from empty gym and summer work, as opposed to game reps? I wouldn’t think so personally
Just in: Oklahoma City Thunder All-Defensive guard Cason Wallace has agreed to a five-year, $139 million rookie-scale contract extension, agents Jeff Schwartz, Max Lipsett and Marcus Monk of Excel Sports Management tell ESPN.

Contract is fine either way, that’s the going rate for defenders of his caliber. Just think we can kill the hidden offensive upside talk

The college basketball season is only a few weeks away so here's my 2027 preseason board! With this being such a wide open class I'm expecting a healthy amount of early season movement, but for now feel free to ask any and all questions about prospects' placements!

Percent of minutes played in lineups alongside 3+ players who were in the bottom half of their team’s rotation that night: Jokic: 22.7% Cade: 21.2% Wemby: 21.1% SGA: 18.0% Luka: 10.5% The DJ as the backup 5 days are over and Jokic plays with the whole roster as much as any star
I mean if this isn’t the most blatant admission of on/off farming idk what is

Beyond the gains that come from the freedom of trial and error, many are too eager to micromanage genius You can’t keep creativity but remove the eccentric traits that presuppose creativity You don’t get LaMelo’s 1 of 1 passing without the 35 foot 3s with 20 on the shot clock
the part about "coloring outside the lines" really stuck with me. I've been thinking a lot about how the league not only HAS changed but is still changing, and about how playing with joy and freedom is becoming harder because every decision is quantified. I don't LIKE bad decisions, but I like creativity, and I'm not sure you can have creativity flourish without bad decisions.
