I don't argue, I debate but call out idiots. Climate isn't a threat, it's a blessing. Wind/Solar are problems not solutions. Ex Cop. Ex business. No DM's.

Annual increase in disposable income per person: Thatcher, 1984–89: +3.97% Labour, 2024–29 (forecast): +0.4% That's people becoming TEN TIMES better off per year than now. I'd happily endure five years of 1980s wallpaper for five years of 1980s economic growth. 📈 ifs.org.uk/collections/autum…

The upcoming COP31 UN Climate Change Conference in Antalya, Türkiye, is shaping up to be one of the most divisive summits ever held. Could it mark the beginning of the end for the COP system? Compounding this instability, India withdrew its bid to host the COP33 summit in 2028, officially citing a 'review of commitments'. New Delhi's exit from the 2028 summit - slated to host the next major Global Stocktake - signals a profound geopolitical pivot. Major developing economies are increasingly bypassing symbolic UN stages to prioritise industrial policy, energy security and bilateral economic arrangements. For the first time, the UN has split the powers of the presidency between two nations after a months-long bidding war. Türkiye serves as the official host and physical venue, but Australian Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen has taken the reins as the 'President of Negotiations' - holding exclusive authority to drive text and broker climate deals. Behind the scenes, the international climate apparatus is fracturing under pressure. Just weeks ahead of the summit, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) suspended its 65th Plenary Session in Ethiopia after member states failed to reach a consensus on the budget and timeline for its Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). Developing nations and small island states walked out before an agreement could be struck, forcing the body to schedule emergency meetings just to recover its work plan. With the primary scientific body gridlocked and key host slots going vacant, heavy domestic criticism is being directed at both host nations for expanding their own fossil fuel footprints. Critics are questioning whether multilateral climate governance is collapsing under its own weight. Bowen faces an immense task in managing a fractured 200-nation delegation. Is COP31 the birth of a workable new framework. Or are we seeing the final, gridlocked days of a broken multilateral system? #COP31 #COP33 #ClimateChange #ChrisBowen #IPCC #Antalya #India

Delighted at the response in Poland to @donaldtusk's attempted takeover of the constitutional court in the absence of the Polish President. He was thwaeted by ordinary Poles whilst the President turned his jet around & returned to rescue the situation. I expect Tusk will now pay a heavy price for the attempted coup in Poland, I personally hope he rots in jail, filthy europhile traitor!

Burnham seems to be quietly back-pedaling on the Miliband agenda and CP2030 looks dead too. But this won't be enough to bring bills down.
In the @DailyMail... @energygovuk denies @Miatsf is being sidelined 😂 But it looks like @hmtreasury is going to push through Rosebank and force DESNZ to abandon Connect and Manage

Carbon taxes, spending on grids, storage and renewables are an even bigger driver of electricity bills than gas. If you can't diagnose the problem properly, you have no chance of fixing it.
‼️ This FT chart tells the energy story. Britain has transformed its electricity mix. Coal has virtually disappeared. Wind and solar have surged. Yet gas still plays an outsized role and because gas often sets the marginal electricity price, a geopolitical shock in the gas market can still push up bills across the whole system. 🔥 This is the trap. We have partly decarbonised generation without fully decarbonising price formation. @JohnHealey_MP now appears to understand that. Removing standing charges may help at the margin, but the bigger prize is breaking Britain’s exposure to volatile global gas prices, investing in grids, storage, renewables and secure domestic generation, and ending the absurd situation where cheap renewable power can still be priced off expensive gas 👉 and reconnecting to the EU’s Internal Energy Market. Energy reform is cost-of-living policy, industrial policy and national security policy - and climate policy.

When the EU flexes its muscles it always extends further its undemocratic influence This is very dangerous
What is happening right now at Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal is, in my view, nothing less than a COUP D’ÉTAT! Donald Tusk is doing everything in his power to illegally seize control of yet another public institution, acting outside the law and trampling on Poland’s constitutional order. His ultimate goal is to establish the supremacy of EU law over Polish law, force through the EU Migration Pact, and flood Poland with tens of thousands, potentially hundreds of thousands, of illegal migrants. He wants Poland to stop being an island of safety, stability and prosperity in Europe. He wants our country to suffer the same economic destruction, social chaos and devastation that we are witnessing in other parts of Europe. Donald Tusk is acting exclusively in Germany’s interests - NOT in the interests of the Polish people. Poland is a sovereign nation. We will not surrender our independence, our security or our future! Listen to what @D_Tarczynski has to say!
