We are building highly capable open source humanoids and Dev kits for Researches, Developers and students. Laika can now use vision to navigate up stairs 🦾.

Really appreciate Robert recognizing the bigger vision behind what we're building! 🚀 This is just the beginning. Every prototype brings us one step closer to making personal flight a reality. Exciting things ahead!
Drone propulsion systems nowadays aren’t like the one that attacked me at Stanford years ago. Really it is a prototype for a flying vehicle. No one will pay attention now. But I do. This work leads to new things eventually.

Incredible progress! A huge leap forward for V4
v4 is flying! ground-up redesign, 6 kg lighter, new propulsion system, stiffer structure, and rewritten firmware modules. hover stability is solid and control authority is significantly better. team’s been cooking

That should be our pilot @rasmushauschild
they built a modular robotics platform that can transform into 5 different robots a biped, quadruped, wheeled robot, or a 7dof robotic arm, all powered by the same actuators this means researchers can train entirely different robotic capabilities for under $6k USD

The greatest advantage of being a hands-on founder is seeing every detail for what it truly is. The competence and character of those doing the work, the limits of our own technology, the problems we must solve, and the remnants of society we aim to change—all become unmistakably clear. Everything else is mere illusion and vanity.

Guess I'm officially out of a job as the mattress guy 😂
officially retiring the crash mattresses drastically reduced our control parameters and built a much simpler flight controller much better stability and actual controlled landings with zero broken parts

Using EDFs to generate high-speed airflow and the Coandă effect to redirect it downward. Still a long way to go, but this is a big step forward.
this is how how our flying machine takes off vertically without giant propellers: edfs blow high-speed air directly over a curved surface, the flow hugs the surface and deflects downward, creating vertical lift. COANDA EFFECT!

A fascinating approach to hybrid aviation. Combining vertical takeoff with the efficiency of fixed-wing flight is a major step toward the future of aerospace. Exciting to see innovative propulsion and aircraft architectures pushing the boundaries of what’s possible!

We learn, we iterate, we fly again
learned a lot from this test! we'll keep crashing it until it's perfect vertical takeoff and hover test went great until a sensor glitch drifted us toward a pillar cut power in mid-air and took a hard landing

The best part of engineering: watching the idea become real.
Running airfoil variation sweeps in the simulation harness for our ATLAS VTOL vehicle. Aerodynamics look promising, but the airframe decided to take a quick nap first.

Because the problems worth solving are the ones that make you question what’s possible. I’d rather spend my life chasing the impossible than wondering what could have been.
why do you work on hard problems?
