Ahead of #COP31, the 9th SDG Dialogue on “Accelerating NDC 3.0 Implementation in Azerbaijan: Advancing Energy Sector Decarbonization for Sustainable Development” was held in partnership with the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development, @MinEconomyAZ and @UNinAzerbaijan.

🎶On 21 October, the United Nations in Azerbaijan, in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland, hosted a UN Day Concert at the State Philharmonic Hall. Featuring performances by the Philharmonic Hall's A Cappella ensemble and artists from the DOST Center for Inclusive and Creative Development, the evening carried a powerful message of unity, solidarity, inclusivity, and harmony.

Building on Azerbaijan’s partnership with the UN, including our successful collaboration at #COP29, exchanged views on advancing climate action and enhancing resilience.
Discussed the need for greater international attention to the #CaspianSea’s declining water levels, one of the most pressing environmental challenges facing our region. Also discussed deepening regional cooperation on transboundary water management, drought preparedness, early warning systems and data sharing.
Explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation on these priorities towards #COP31 and beyond.

APA conducted an interview with Dmytro Shlapachenko @DShlapachenko, the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan @UNinAzerbaijan. Post-conflict recovery and reconstruction were among Azerbaijan’s priority issues.
The Government of #Azerbaijan has launched large-scale programmes for the safe and dignified return of former internally displaced persons. You have recently visited Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. What were your main impressions from the visit, and how do you see the role of the United Nations @UN in supporting the region’s reconstruction, development and reintegration?
As I just started as a UN Resident Coordinator, and as the reconstruction of #Karabakh and #EasternZangezur are the key priorities for the government, for me it was very important to see what are we talking about and what is happening there.
Of course, the main task is to bring people back and make Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur fully livable and fully integrated in the economy of Azerbaijan, which I think is happening.
