Why do so many young people I speak to say they wish we would riot like the French?
I struggle to understand this. I understand the frustration people feel when they believe the government is failing them, and I believe there should be greater pressure on politicians to listen and act. But setting buildings on fire, looting shops and putting innocent people at risk is not the answer. It is ordinary people, including independent shopkeepers and vulnerable members of the public, who can end up paying the price.
There is a difference between refusing to accept the status quo and destroying the communities we live in.
What I struggle to understand is the hatred aimed at Ed Sheeran, after vocalising a very neutral view on the war in the Middle East.
Whilst Macklemore was being praised by many is now giving money raised by his upcoming concerts to a pro Palestine organisation which defended Hama’s October 7th brutalities.
‼️investigation takes place into Your Party after supposedly accessing another political party’s data base‼️

The London Assembly amended today’s Mayor’s Question Time motion to oppose racism, discrimination and antisemitism, and condemn political statements causing fear among Londoners.
Yet @ZackPolanski didn’t say a single word. When it came to standing against antisemitism, his silence was deafening.
Lord Sadiq Khan refuses to state if he approves of the Harry Potter Christmas lights that will be down Oxford street over the Christmas Period.

Funny to think my great great grandfather used to have a tobacco shop along Victoria Dock back in the day.

As a British Jew, I am deeply concerned by the Green Party's vote to declare Zionism racism.
Whatever our political differences, Jewish people must never face prejudice or discrimination.
Yesterday, I raised these concerns in Parliament and asked how Jewish communities can be reassured.
I welcome the Home Secretary's clear response: every council, regardless of political control, must uphold equality law and protect its residents from discrimination.
I find this question genuinely interesting, because if I’m honest, I’ve become numb to seeing these images posted underneath my tweets, depicting what people think “Jewish people look like”.
And that genuinely saddens me. Nobody should become so accustomed to antisemitism that they stop feeling shocked by it.
I know this generalisation is absolute rubbish. Jewish people are not a caricature, and no single image can represent an entire people. But the fact that people feel comfortable reducing an entire community to offensive stereotypes, and passing it off as humour, is deeply troubling.
Perhaps the most worrying part is how normalised this has become. When you see it often enough, you risk becoming desensitised to something that should never be acceptable in the first place.
Antisemitism is rising, yet promises alone will not protect Jewish communities. The UK’s J7 meeting must be more than talk. Seven countries have agreed to deepen cooperation. But will they deliver real consequences for anti-Jewish hatred, or will another warning go unanswered?
