On this episode of Finding Solutions, I sat down with Calgary Shepard MP and Deputy Speaker @tomkmiec to break down what Albertans are really thinking right now, how federal Conservatives are making the case for a stronger Alberta within a united Canada, and rebuilding of Parliament- at least the buildings!
Come for the talk on Alberta, stay for the Yiddish proverbs.

Twelve years ago, Canada lost Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent to acts of terrorism at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
Two proud Canadians who wore our country's uniform with honour, taken far too soon from their families and friends who loved them.
We will never forget their sacrifice. We will defend the freedoms they fought to protect and never surrender to terror.

Since 2015, the Liberals have spent more than every other government in Canadian history COMBINED.
What's really scary is that all that borrowing was done at extremely low interest rates, and now those bonds are rolling over into new, and more expensive, debt.
That's not stopping Mark Carney. He's spending more, and faster, than at any time outside of World War II and COVID.
The combination of massive deficits and a large national debt, with ever-increasing costs to service that debt, is a genuine threat to the economic future of this country.
We've seen this all before too. Guess who pays when the bill comes due? You.

On this sombre anniversary, we remember Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, and hold their families in our thoughts.
We will never take for granted the courage and sacrifices of our first responders and members of the Canadian Armed Forces who work tirelessly to keep us safe.

Today, I announced two new Conservative proposals to lower taxes, reduce administrative burdens, and help Canadian entrepreneurs succeed:
• Increase the GST/HST small-supplier threshold from $30,000 to $60,000 and;
• Increase the federal Small Business Deduction limit from $500,000 to $700,000.
Both thresholds would be indexed to inflation, so small businesses aren't penalized simply because operations get more expensive.
After years of rising costs, trade uncertainty, and increasingly complicated tax rules, Canadian entrepreneurs deserve a break. That is why Conservatives introduced our Economic Action Plan; because it’s time to make it easier to start a business, grow a business, and create jobs in Canada.

Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was targeted and murdered in a terrorist attack because he was a Canadian soldier. Full stop.
This was no mere "hit and run".
It’s unforgivable the Liberal government is minimizing the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces who put on the uniform in service to country and risk their lives everyday to protect all of us.
Lest we forget.

SHOCKING
This is what Bill C-224 looks like after Liberals SYSTEMATICALLY GUTTED it at Health committee.
MILLIONS of Canadians that rely on Natural Health Products every day are at RISK of losing access because of Liberal bureaucracy that treats NHPs like pharmaceuticals.
NHPs are not pharmaceuticals.
For decades, Natural Health Products have already been regulated by Health Canada, requiring approval to prove their safety.
Now, additional regulations will add hundreds of millions in additional costs and administrative burdens that will HARM Canadian businesses, and Canadians who use NHPs.
Higher fuel costs don’t stop at the pump. Diesel moves our food from farm to shelf, and when it costs more, groceries cost more. Conservatives brought forward an Emergency Fuel Relief Plan. The Liberals, Bloc and NDP voted it down. This week’s report: danalbasmp.ca/2026/10/21/hig…

Carney promised elbows up.
Instead, he elbowed veterans aside to give contracts to a foreign firm.

Since when is trying to hire a Canadian first “red tape”?
68,000 Canadians lost their jobs last month. I asked why the Liberals are removing Canadian hiring checks under Express Entry.
The minister's rebuttal was to read out a business lobby’s praise for the policy.
Of course corporations would be happy to see the Liberals make it easier to hire cheap foreign labour!

(rare appearance)
Square that circle folks.
"Spend less" Carney said....
Carney’s Liberals can move spending into a “capital” column. They can’t make the borrowing disappear.
The PBO projects $733 billion in federal borrowing over the next five years. Debt interest is the fastest-growing federal expense. That works out to nearly $6,000 a year for a family of four, just to cover interest on the federal debt.
Changing the label doesn’t change the bill. Cut the waste and come clean about the cost of Liberal borrowing.
Of course they are. I heard from another constituent yesterday who has to move and is getting hit with a $300 cancellation fee. He calls it $300 to ensure he will never, ever do business with Rogers ever again.
Rogers will soon charge a 1.6% credit card processing fee on bills mobilesyrup.com/2026/10/21/r…
What Carney said: ""With our economy under threat from abroad, Canadians have made a choice: to focus on what we can control. We can’t control what other nations do. We can be our own best customer. We’ll buy Canadian. We’ll build Canadian."
What Carney does:
“An American security company with ties to Trump’s deportation machine is about to start guarding Canada’s tax office — and it beat out a Canadian veterans’ institution by just $80,000. Allied Universal, a firm making tens of millions off ICE and other U.S. agencies, will soon take over security at the Canada Revenue Agency.”

BioWare, the Edmonton studio that gave us Mass Effect, is being shuttered. Canadian jobs, gone.
At the same time, the Liberals are making it easier for corporations to skip Canadians and hire from abroad.
We need immigration policy that puts Canadian workers first.

Pierre Poilievre gives a heartfelt statement on the CFB Wainwright tragic event. We all stand together to support the recovery of our injured soldiers and pay tribute to those who lost their lives serving our country. We thank all of the first responders, medical teams, firefighters and for their amazing response during this tragedy. Helping each other is what being Canadian is all about.

This is what we’re up against trying to report on the CFB Wainwright tragedy.
On October 18, I asked Environment Canada for the original wind-warning bulletins for the region, to make sure I hadn’t missed any and because several had since been archived online.
I also asked for the timestamped XML files — or directions on how to access them myself.
I wasn’t asking about the fire. I wasn’t asking for anything new. I was trying to retrieve historical weather warnings and records, most of which were already publicly available.
This was their response.
It took them two full working days to send this.

BREAKING
The $300 MILLION PrescribeIT scandal keeps getting worse.
A court filing reveals that former CEO Michael Green received over $580,000 in performance bonuses over four years.
The Liberals gave Canada Health Infoway $300 MILLION for a program supposed to replace faxed prescriptions, yet fewer than 5% of prescriptions went through it.
Then it was shut down.
But the bonuses kept coming!
Infoway rated Mr. Green's performance as "Exceeding", "Thriving", and "Delivering," even after acknowledging his failures.
Delivering WHAT?
While Canadians got nothing for PrescribeIT, insiders got rich.
