The horrific threats against the Sunnyside Muslim Center, which is located right next door to my Queens district office, are part of a growing wave of Islamophobia targeting mosques and Muslims across the country. Muslim New Yorkers are integral parts of our community, and freedom of religion is a bedrock principle of our nation. I stand with Imam Chowdhury and his congregation. We must stand up against this hate and protect our neighbors. Everyone deserves to practice their religion safely.

ICE’s detention of a NYC Council staffer who was following every rule is an absolute disgrace. Using masked agents to snatch a public servant at a routine check-in is an authoritarian tactic. He must be released now, and basic due process must be restored.

Today, I marched with thousands of New Yorkers to demand justice for Renee Nicole Good.   From Minneapolis to Manhattan, our message is the same: No Wars, No Kings, and NO ICE in our communities.

ICE tore 6-year-old Yuanxin from his father at a check-in at 26 Federal Plaza, and they still won’t say where he is. Between January & October, ICE arrested 151 children. They are tearing families apart and traumatizing kids. My heart is with this family. We need answers now.

Today, @RepEspaillat, @RepDanGoldman, and I were locked out of MDC Brooklyn and denied our legal right to conduct oversight.   This facility has a long record of abuse and is now detaining immigrants in secret.
 The Trump admin is blocking oversight of their lawless deportation machine. The public deserves answers.

When EPA workers raise the alarm about cuts that endanger our communities, they deserve protection not punishment. Putting 139 public servants on leave for speaking out is retaliation, plain and simple. We can’t build climate justice by silencing the very people fighting for it.

The unhinged racism and xenophobia from my Republican colleagues truly knows no bounds. This is disgraceful behavior from a Member of Congress, but sadly, exactly what we've come to expect from this caucus.
