In his IAGR speech, @GamRegGB Rhodes called harm progress — bragging the UK market is “stable” with 48% of adults gambling and £15.6bn lost.

The Commission now takes live behavioural data feeds from operators (ROCD) to watch players in real time — yet still refuses hard limits or transparency.

Government policy under @lisanandy is to grow the gambling industry. We asked her constituents what they think of that

£12,000 to a food bank sounds generous. But that’s the gross take from just 6,000 spins, one person can lose it in four hours on a £2 B3 slot. This isn’t charity. It’s crumbs dressed up as compassion, while millions are drained from the same communities.
The culture secretary @lisanandy says “gambling brings joy to millions” but can ruin the lives of “some people in particular.”

If politicians buy this PR stunt, they’ve been played. @lisanandy this is the reality of the industry you’re overseeing Then… look at the data. A family-run business closes when a big operator lands on the street.

These venues aren’t bringing jobs - they employ the bare minimum staff. The money that looks “flush” in the stats in year one? It doesn’t stay local. It’s siphoned straight out of the community. This isn’t regeneration. It’s extraction.

Labour has lost its way. Instead of standing for people, theyre chasing revenue through harm, "leading" and regulating in ways that hit the most vulnerable hardest. Theyre living in the shadow of the right, too scared to lead with principle. Come on @ZackPolanski it's your time!

Tourism is more than slot halls. Withernsea, one operator, Smiles For Miles runs 10 venues in the same postcode (HU19 2DN). Hastings 8 venues (TN34 3AD) under Coastal Amusements. Paignton? 7 venues (TQ4 6AJ). Thats not supporting tourism, it’s flooding high streets with gambling.
I am delighted to have been appointed the new Tourism Minister. The UK is one of the world’s top tourist destinations, the sector contributes more than £50 billion to our economy while giving so much joy to people

Scarborough YO11 has at least 5 venues under John Barry Noble/Noble’s in the same postcode. Skegness PE25 has clusters of 4–5 venues each under the same family operators. This isn’t tourism growth, it’s local harm disguised as entertainment.

Minister, your photos celebrate piers and day trips — but the stats tell a different story. In deprived seaside towns, gambling venues dominate: 10 in Withernsea, 8 in Hastings, 7 in Paignton. Imagine if that space and money went into heritage, culture and jobs instead.

Shrinkconomy: the industry that drains UK wealth and grows public harm. Every pound spent in a slot is a pound shrunk from our economy. Quick spending then sent out of UK. Seems to be the labour manifesto this time.
We don’t need a fuzzy cumulative impact assessment, We need: - removal of “aim to permit” and - Gambling Commission to have the sole strategic objective to prevent harm. When will Labour deliver on its manifesto gambling promise to reduce harm?

Well done @andymay_76 for calling this out 👏 High streets are being flooded with 24hr slots, while the industry parrots “safest places to gamble.” Imagine fast food saying “we don’t cause obesity". Double cheese, safest source of fats. Don’t fall for their crap.

Real harm is happening: 🔹 Staff reserving machines for addicts 🔹 Self-excluded shown new ATMs to bypass blocks 🔹 People out of rehab losing thousands in one venue Every time the Commission calls these “isolated.” They’re not.

The truth? AGCs survive on destruction. ⚠️ No affordability checks ⚠️ Cash loopholes ⚠️ Records wiped in weeks Yet the @GamRegGB protects the industry, not the public. 👉 enoughgambling.com @Jackie_olden1 @andymay_76
