The data center build out is helping to drive the new American energy sector boom.
Data center growth can help America produce more nuclear power.
For example, Meta signed a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to support an Illinois nuclear plant after its state subsidy expires.
The deal also supports increasing the plant's output by 30 megawatts.
Large electricity customers can support reliable power generation and expand our energy supply in ways we don't expect.
More demand can create opportunities to build more energy.

Kishwaukee College in Illinois gets over $2 million a year in property taxes from one data center.
A community college.
That's money it didn't have to ask local homeowners for.
In Kentucky, data center projects can support schools and allow residents to pay lower property taxes.
It's a win-win!
A typical 400-MW data center in KY would generate $290 million to $435 million in city and county tax revenue over 12 years, including up to $222 million for local school districts. That’s a solid tax base that can fund schools while enabling property tax cuts. buff.ly/WPvAHqt

Nice, had wanted to do this at some point but it seemed pretty daunting. Happy Nic took it on.
How loud are America’s largest data centers?
Despite this being an intensely political issue with a simple empirical answer, no one has systematically studied the problem… until now.
@nic_carter, along with his AI agents, mapped noise from the 25 most massive hyperscalers in America. For 17 of them, no credible complaints of noise were found.
In addition, no data center in the study over 800 meters from the nearest population cluster received any meaningful complaints, suggesting that, while the noise problem is real, it’s also very solvable.
Here, the first ever comprehensive, systematic study of data center noise... and how to fix it 👇

Data center projects = millions for schools 🏫.
A potential data center project would save Edgewood City Schools in Trenton, NJ from a major financial deficit in 2031.

Good morning from Richland Parish, Louisiana ☀️
Last year, the parish's year-end teacher bonus was $10,200.
This year? $50,935.
That's the full share, for certified employees with four or more years of experience, and 106 teachers got it. Support staff got $17,472, up from $3,323.
The money comes from a sales tax bump tied to building Meta's Hyperion data center, and the superintendent expects bigger bonuses for as long as construction runs. For many teachers here, it's on par with or more than a full year's salary.

The race with China is heating up. It's critical we build data centers in America.

Data center tax revenue is making a real impact. Here’s what it funded in three U.S. communities. ⬇️
One bottleneck for the AI buildout is skilled labor
US manufacturers are working existing staff longer and paying up for new ones:
- Hours per worker are outpacing headcount growth in 7 out of 10 sectors
- Workers who switch jobs are getting ~10% pay increases, about double the ~5% for those who stick around

Since 2019, imports of AI hardware have grown faster than US production in every category
US production vs. imports:
- Computers: +46% vs. +366%
- Comms equipment: +87% vs. +175%
- Semis: +76% vs. +131%
- Grid & electrical equipment: -7% vs. +69%

Smart move. Projects go smoother when the town sees something it actually wanted come out of the deal.

GOOD NEWS: A data center developer just put up $15M for a new animal shelter in Ellis County, Texas ☀️
The developer is Compass Datacenters, which runs a data center campus in Red Oak.
Why it matters: the SPCA of Texas closed its Ellis County care center in April 2025, and local rescue volunteers stepped up to fill the gap. Now there's $15M for a new one.
Good dogs, good neighbors. We love to see it.

Yup! Data centers can actually lower your power bill contrary to the popular narrative.
More data centers don't automatically mean higher electricity bills.
In fact, research from the Electric Power Research Institute found that doubling data center capacity was associated with roughly 4% lower residential electricity rates between 2015 and 2024.
Why? Large customers can help spread the fixed costs of the electric grid across more electricity sales.
If we get policy right, growing electricity demand can help make power more affordable. Here's how we do it.

About $19M in tax revenue could be headed to Central City, Iowa ☀️
That's what city officials say a proposed data center could generate, with roughly half going straight to the city.
Mayor Don Gray's take: "That's a lot of tax money that a small community can use." He says it could help Central City keep its relatively low property taxes.
