How the top 10 in true strokes gained has evolved over the last five years via @DataGolf.
What sticks out?

An hour ago, @datagolf had the U.S. at nearly 60 percent to win the event. Now, it's back down to 35 percent.

Putting numbers via @DataGolf from Day 2 here at Medinah.
Two players from the US had an above average day putting.
The number of opportunities to bring the crowd to life that missed was a LARGE number out here today.

A reminder that @DataGolf had Koivun ranked as their best amateur golfer since 2010 ahead of some massive, massive names.
Now a win by 3 shots in his 3rd pro start as a 21 year old.
And by 5 shots over everyone that isn’t the number one player in the world.
SHEESH.

Hard to picture this early wave going much better than it has from a golf course test perspective.
-Just 15 players under par out of 59
-NERD STAT ALERT: The skill separator is an astonishing 2.42 (1.00 is average).
Translation: The leaderboard is really, really, really good and the course is separating skill at a remarkably high rate so far.

When you look at what's separating players this week (not just teams), it's actually not a putting contest. More like an everything-but-driving contest:

Talking Tiger in 2008 - he obviously didn't play any tournaments after the U.S. Open ... but man, what could have been! Look at his run in just 7 events ... @DataGolf has it the 33rd best ever since 1983. SEVEN EVENTS!
