(1/4) TROPICAL MOISTURE INBOUND: A deep tap of tropical moisture will be moving into the Desert Southwest this weekend. Yes, some of this moisture will be from Tropical Storm Vance that is currently just south of Cabo San Lucas. Brunt of the rain falls SUNDAY.

It has been a remarkable week of inflows at Lake Powell. Highest ever for a month other than May or June, 44th highest ever for any 1 week period, and 18th if removing 1964 (Lake Powell's first year). 👍

Arapahoe Basin will become the first ski resort in North America to open their doors for the 2026-27 ski season at 11am today! Colorado's had at least one ski resort open in October each year since 1992. Last weekend's snow helps A-Basin get on the board first in '26-'27. #COwx

More moisture forecast for the west. Love to see it but maybe this time it can not dump so much on the San Juan River Basin. The Gunnison (Blue Mesa) and Green (Flaming Gorge) could sure use it though.

Upcoming weather pattern: Parade of western troughs = downstream ridging east of the Rockies and much above normal temperatures into November. Next 10-days may look like the next 100-days with ongoing El Niño.

I want to clarify. The water levels we use are from the @usbr which operates most of the large dams in the west. We do have but do not currently display data from the @USGS which many people have been posting. Oddly, the chart from the USGS, which show a significantly higher water level than the USBR data, does not match the data we get from them. I will provide links below.
