Behind the house I grew up in was several hundred acres of woods that neighborhood kids and I used to explore. Back there, on the side of a hill that faced out onto a highway and a railroad track, was small pond. Later, when I was in college, I got to know the owner of a campus coffee shop who was a Civil War buff. When he learned where I grew up, he asked if he could search the land for artifacts. Turned out the “pond” was a mortar emplacement that was either abandoned or overrun and was full of artifacts. He took a couple bullets and a belt buckle, but left the rest. He suspected there could still be a mortar down under the water in the pond. I drank and ate free at that coffee shop the rest of the year. Still amazes me that the land we used to traipse through as boys was hotly fought over by men of a few generations before us.

Ken Paxton was outspent by the GOP in a 9-to-1 margin and only received the Trump endorsement days before the primary.
He literally offered to withdraw if Cornyn did his job and at the very least suspended the parliamentarian and forced SAVE Act to a vote.
The GOP made the choice to rebuke the will of their own voters and spend 100 million on a candidate running amnesty adds in spanish.
You are literally complaining about the voters because they primaried a resentful old loser who refused to do his job.

Funny how this argument only gets made for Euro and NA dioceses. Never Asian, African, or Latin American ones. No one is ever surprised or upset that a church in Brazil has an overwhelmingly native laity and clergy. But the white countries apparently aren't allowed the same.

Mission work in the 21st century is a bad scene. Almost no one doing it has their own life & community under control. It’s escapism.
I was at a church where they spent an entire service allowing this couple make a presentation about their 6 months doing mission work in some town in sub Saharan Africa. The typical little African town scenes and tropes - just so ridiculous. Meanwhile, their daughter is at home is in rehab for alcoholism and is suicidal. The story was gross.
