Very much concur with this take. It’s by far the most efficient use of a single donation
Lots of people are asking me where to give their money - if you can only do one race, I’d give what you can to @MaryPeltola Several reasons: 1) It’s a small state, so your money goes further per expected senate vote 2) Direct donations buy 19x ads per dollar than committees due to the unit rule - this also frees up the DSCC and SMP to put their money on states with smaller IE/coord ad price spreads and frees them up to spend more on digital 3) it’s likely going to be close! It’s not too late! Any money you send today will get spent immediately and will provide real relief to an overworked campaign workers across a bunch of orgs! secure.actblue.com/donate/mp…

NEW: An appeals court concluded that Trump misused his emergency powers to impose sweeping tariffs on U.S. trading partners, casting a cloud over the trade deals he’s been making. SCOTUS is next. w/ @tradereporter @joshgerstein @drdesrochers politico.com/news/2025/08/29…

Let's be real: if Republicans pass the House budget bill as is, it will murder the US nuclear industry, ruin our chances of winning the AI race (by constraining power supply), concede the global auto sector to China, and vaporize about half a trillion dollars of US manufacturing investment. All while raising energy costs for US households and businesses. As a patriotic American, I say: 🤬that!

The Volts podcast with David Roberts tackles the question of why housing & urban land use is central to climate policy. This issue is relevant to Brookline, where folks focused on climate action seem to be split on the topic of housing. Listen below! buff.ly/XEto0dn

Another Trump term would bring national weakness, more years of unrest, and rule by the worst people. Meanwhile, Harris has steered her party toward patriotism and optimism, and will continue Biden's competent economic stewardship. So vote for Harris! noahpinion.blog/p/four-reaso…

I have a genuinely positive view of Harris, but for any of my tech friends who may not, please read Paul Graham's very extraordinarily moderate and straightforward rational for supporting Harris.
If you haven't decided yet who to vote for, here's why I think you should vote for Harris.

War in Afghanistan the whole Trump presidency. Bombed a new state (Syria). First killed foreign general since WWII (Iran). Kissing up to Putin led to Ukraine, kissing up to Bibi led to Gaza, kissing up to Kim normalized nuclear proliferation. How does anyone buy Trump "peace" BS.

It’s increasingly clear that the single best way to get a voter to support Kamala Harris is to have them work in Donald Trump’s White House.

Remarkable epilogue to Bob Woodward's WAR, out today: He says "many of the news-making scenes in my prior books are stories of failures, mismanagement, dishonesty and the corruption of executive power," but in the Biden White House he found "steady and purposeful leadership."

Harris' economic policy agenda is basically: * trying to lower costs for a bunch of stuff via antitrust and deregulation * industrial policy, with support for working-class career paths * support for startups and small businesses I like it. noahpinion.blog/p/lets-evalu…

The Biden administration took decisive action to revitalize America's manufacturing industries and preserve our technological edge over China. These policies haven't completely succeeded yet, but they look like they're on track to succeed. noahpinion.blog/p/biden-did-…

I am excited about the new generation of Dem leaders that are coming to the fore to replace our bipartisan gerontocracy: Gretchen Whitmer, Andy Beshear, Roy Cooper, Josh Shapiro, Pete Buttiegieg, Raphael Warnock (and more!). And excited to support @KamalaHarris LFG

Ami Ayalon, former head of Shin Bet, interviewed on @BBCr4today: "The only way to defeat an idea is to present a better idea, and that is to present a political horizon for Israelis and Palestinians. Hamas’ popularity is rising, but the minute Palestinians will believe in a political horizon, their freedom, they will not support Hamas. The Palestinians are here to stay and we are here to stay, so we have to divide this piece of land. "

“If we shall not end the occupation, we shall not have security,” warns Ami Ayalon, former head of Shin Bet, “and if we shall not end this occupation, we shall not have democracy.” In an extraordinarily candid interview, Israel’s former internal security chief condemns what he calls Prime Minister Netanyahu’s “toxic leadership,” and argues that as the war continues, “we are losing our identity as people, as Jews, and as human beings.” Watch our full conversation here.
