Trump’s goal is to intimidate me and get me to back down.
That’s not going to happen.
I will not be silenced, and I will not stop fighting for my constituents.

$AXP American Express with more “productivity” job cuts. Other companies announcing similar cuts as well.
Worrisome that chance the white collar recession is only getting worse.
$META: Headcount was 66,775 as of September 30, 2026, a decrease of 15% year-over-year.

Health care costs for workers are set to jump 8.2% next year, the biggest spike in 20+ years.
Why? Healthcare conglomerates are jacking up prices after Republicans cut health care funding.
Elect Dems who will break up Big Medicine and reverse the cuts.

The U.S. is the world’s richest large country. We rank high on GDP per person, and typical U.S. HH has the 2nd highest income in world
But people w/ low incomes don’t share in that prosperity—their incomes are as low or lower than people in countries less wealthy than us.

Instead, policymakers enacted temporary tax cuts under Bush, made them permanent under Obama, enacted temporary tax cuts under Trump 1, and then made them permanent/enacted new temporary tax cuts under Trump 2.
If we hadn’t cut taxes, debt would be lower and stable.

Deficits are supposed to⬆️when we’re in a recession and when⬇️unemployment is low.
But our primary (non-interest) deficit for 2026 was more like an economy in a recession than the <4.5% unemployment economy we’re actually in.
And that’s been a pattern since the Trump tax cuts.

New @CenterOnBudget fiscal policy paper.
The U.S. has 2 deficits:
1. A fiscal deficit
2. An investment deficit—our failure to adopt policies making folks better off.
Fiscal policy should reduce both—not reduce one deficit by growing other. More revenue can do just that.
As our nation faces both a federal budget deficit and a federal investment deficit, policymakers should focus on raising revenue to address both challenges, expand opportunity, and build a more shared prosperity: cbpp.org/research/federal-bu…

OOF.
U.S. consumer sentiment slipped to a five-month low of 48 in October, with buying conditions for durable goods hitting a record low as Americans expect prices to rise 4.7% over the next year and nearly 70% brace for higher interest rates, highest in over three years!

I hope everyone understands that, in an alternate timeline, it would have been much harder to hold Ramaswamy accountable for his pro-child-rape ad if Graham Platner were the Democratic candidate for Maine.
"Your candidate is exploiting child abuse."
"Yeah, well your candidate rapes and beats women."
During the entire Platner saga, those of us who opposed Platner got told over and over again, "Well Republicans get away with everything, so why can't we?"
We got told this over the Totenkopf. The reddit comments. And the initial story of domestic violence.
This is a bad ethical argument; it's also a bad political one.
I think the re-election of Donald Trump introduced a lot of nihilism among us, as well as a loss of any sense of order in the world. "Nothing has consequences, people like evil, and so we can all just race to the bottom."
The race to the bottom was never a good fit for Democrats, as we claim to want to improve human welfare. To be anti-bigotry. To endorse compassion in governance.
Also, again, it's just bad politics. If you want to hold the other side accountable, you have to clean your own house first.
This applies to antisemitism as well, btw. Failure to properly address it on our side is a moral failure. It's also a political one, as it leaves us much weaker as a party on multiple fronts.
Anyway, overall, we'd be in a much weaker position right now if the GOP had gotten their chance to dump their Platner Surprise--domestic violence and rape--on the entire Democratic party.
Please remember this lesson in the future.

New: Low-info voters, who put Trump in the White House, now look even more anti-Trump than high-info voters, and give Dems bigger margins on the generic ballot.

I visited MLK Community Hospital in South LA, the only safety-net hospital serving poor patients in the area.
The ER was built for 25k patients a year; it gets 120k.
I saw patients treated in the gift shop, the chapel, in tents, even outdoors.

Great chart from Slok. Everybody knows that a very small % off companies are consuming the lion's share of token consumption
What's interesting is that of those top 1% of spenders, they're overwhelmingly VC-backed companies. May have implications if VC-funding starts to slow.

James Talarico: “I would ask [Ken Paxton] how he increased his net worth by $27M as a public employee. I would ask him how he owns 15 homes on a government salary. I would ask him why he was impeached by his own party and reported to the FBI by his own staff. And I would ask him why he’s taking bribes from wealthy donors while he blocks our overtime pay and guts our healthcare”
