The photo caption is: Four phones connect to overhead satellite services, loading maps services, connectnig to WhatsApp and sending SMS.
All four phones have only 1 bar of signal and are low to mid battery, probably because of the constant need to switch satellites. The article notes that each connection would last around a minute and would reconnect every couple of minutes.
The low signal aligns with findings by @Telstra that I posted about previously, linked below in the next post. 🧵

Yes the Roth note says "AST continues to broadly track to an early 2027 constellation commercialization"
The "early 2027" guideline is the BB45 timeline that AST mentioned in the latest call.
"continues to broadly track" means no change
Note that "early 2027" doesn't mean March 2027. There is no definitive term for what "early 2027" means --- I am guessing it means a range of Q1 to end of Q2, i.e. "first half" of 2027.
@VodafoneGroup and @AST_SpaceMobile's European joint venture, Satellite Connect Europe, is the frontrunner for this scope.
