yea metroidvanias are overall longer than before, but i dont think its a necessary downside if they enable (and encourage) you to speed through it
belmonts curse is like dread. can be lengthy, but if you know what you're doing, you can speedrun the game. i think thats the best way to go about it. potentially lengthy on first runs but have options for fast clears

my first run of dread was like 16 hours, my second run was 6, and my dread mode run was 4. the length of these games is entirely on you
currently playing Belmonts curse and I’ve been playing for 23 hours, but it hasn’t stopped my enjoyment cause I’ve spent so much time exploring around. best part is know this game can be beaten in less than 4 hours as there’s an achievement for doing so
I think these games’ ability to be 10hr + or 4hr≤ experiences based on how you approach the game is a good thing actually
