From a longtime Stevens ally:
“The consensus among her friends, colleagues and staff is that there needs to be an intervention to save Haley from her fiancé because, if you ignore the politics and focus on the personal dynamics, you are watching in real time what happens when a kind and smart - but deeply insecure - woman falls under the influence of a toxic and controlling - and deeply insecure - man.”

Josh Shapiro and Gavin Newsom are going to run for president and they’ve chosen NOT to be invested in Abdul El Sayed’s victory.
Their responses to the Haley situation should be nails in the coffins of their shitty spineless campaigns.
2028 nominee on the dem side will not be one who walks the middle path and nods at the right.

It's unbelievably funny that Haley Stevens crashing out over not getting invited to one event might lead to a national ripple effect where moderate dems are all forced left because their base can no longer trust self-proclaimed centrist candidates
New: The Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party says:
“Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future.”

What's so annoying about this is that it's a reminder of how for some, not all, centrist Democrats, politics is just a game. Actual people or principles don't matter. It's all just posturing and positioning. This woman claims to be a Democrat but the people Democrats care about - minorities, the poor, women - will all suffer under a GOP Senate. The Supreme Court, which has harmed so many people, will get another GOP justice under a GOP Senate.
Rogers's racism, bigotry, election denial, opposition to abortion rights or universal healthcare, none of it matters to her.
Highly relevant in light of recent events in Michigan and #Election2026.
Some people like to talk about compromise "for the greater good" when they're the ones who seem to have the upper hand, but then they act stubborn once they're the ones at the short end of the stick.

My general thought here is that Trump is the most unpopular president since 1946 and that midterm saw the insurmountable New Deal coalition crushed by Republicans.
This time, Trump is unpopular not because he’s incompetent or unlucky but because of a very specific promise he made and then broke. He promised not to do new wars and instead to focus on bringing down prices.
Instead, he launched a new war that directly and painfully raised prices. And he and his family got extremely rich along the way.
He broke the contract, and I think he’ll pay an even higher price than the polls suggest.
I'm not a big defender of public media/academic polls in general.
As I've said, I largely ignore them and rely on higher quality private polls in my reporting.
But there are big misconceptions growing in some quarters that I think it would be good to head off.
A poll with a candidate at or near 50% is very different than a poll with the alleged leader at, say, 45%.
In other words, 50% to 43% is very different than 45% to 38%.
The smaller undecided is a meaningful factor.
And any Republican strategist or pol with access to high-quality private polling knows that their numbers are not meaningfully different than the New York Times polls.
If there is not a Blue tsunami as big as Connecticut, it will indeed be a very large polling failure across many states. But/and that will as true for private Republican polls as for the "liberal" New York Times polls.
The prospect that the polls have moved here in the final week from narrow Democratic leads in many key races to larger leads is perfectly consistent with voter behavior and with the news flow and political environment.
There might not be a Blue tsunami, but tonight there are more reasons to think that there will be than that there won't.

Thank you Haley Stevens for proving EVERY DSA radical correct lmao. You have made my job SO MUCH EASIER with normie dems. They DESPISE traitors. AOC just won in 2028.

Haley Stevens was Chuck Schumer’s handpicked candidate and the entire Democratic establishment lectured everyone about how we *needed* to nominate her.
This entire party needs to be gutted, these people are not on our side just because they have a D next to their name.

Elite politics media obsessively scoured every last detail in Graham Platner’s life for 9 months. How are we only just now, two months after a high stakes primary, learning that everyone close to Haley Stevens thinks she’s irrational, incompetent, and easily manipulated?
I tend to be pessimistic about the Democrats' chances in this Tuesday's election, but my god.
That Haley Stevens bombshell may have just riled up the anti-Trump voters in the country for Tuesday. Because wtf was that??!!

My presumption is that plenty in the Dem establishment are behind Stevens in principle, and likely encouraged her last minute Hasan/antisemitism stunt, but they didn’t expect her to go rogue when AES didn’t take the bait and are now scrambling to cover their asses.

The chance that Stevens' Rogers endorsement sinks AES is miniscule.
What it will be much more effective at doing is weakening the cause of moderation in the Democratic Party. Vindication of "The centrists are all closet Republicans ready to do the bidding of the other party."

MAGA is having a meltdown over this factually correct article. One cure to the unfounded suspicions here would be to simply not announce partial counts. Just announce final results when they are done counting, or callable with certainty.
If you go to bed on election night and don't know who won a midterm congressional race, that's normal. And if you wake up the next morning and find that a candidate who was behind hours earlier has since pulled ahead, that's normal, too. (via @PolitiFact) to.pbs.org/4zqnWBa

.@AbdulElSayed: When John F. Kennedy ran for president, he was asked about whether or not his allegiance would be to the Constitution or to the Pope in the Vatican, because he would be the first Catholic president. He had to remind people that he wasn't running to be the first Catholic president, he was running to be the next president of the United States. I'm not running to be the first anything. I'm running to be the next senator from my state.

From now on, I do not want to hear ANY MORE “Progressives are ratfucking Dems” EVER AGAIN. People like Francesca Hong and Tom Steyer have backed the more moderate Dem nominee in their own races. Meanwhile Haley Stevens is out campaigning with Mike Rogers just TWO DAYS before the election
