Proud to be a part of this festschrift in honour of an Amazon. @BimboLoyede
The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) was honored to join industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to celebrate Bimbo Oloyede, veteran broadcaster and WSCIJ Lifetime Award for Journalistic Excellence recipient, as she marked 50 years in broadcasting and launched her festschrift publication, “Communication and Media in Nigeria.” The newly unveiled 55-chapter book bridges historical media practice with modern realities, exploring everything from newsroom dynamics and AI in broadcasting to professional wellbeing. Notably, the publication features a chapter by Motunrayo Alaka, Executive Director/CEO of WSCIJ. Drawing on over two decades of advancing media equity and ethical leadership, her contribution delivers a vital, deeply reflective argument: that true accountability in journalism is impossible without gender equality. Dignitaries including Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Prof. Andrew Haruna, and book reviewer Dr. Reuben Abati all gathered to honour the "Queen of female broadcasters" for her enduring impact on Nigeria’s civic and media space. Congratulations to Bimbo Oloyede on 5 Decades of Journalistic Excellence! 📚✨ #BimboOloyede #WSCIJ #MediaExcellence #CommunicationAndMediaInNigeria #Journalism #Broadcasting #WomenInMedia #NigerianMedia

Thank you WSCIJ for the spotlight. My journalism history wouldn’t be complete without a chapter dedicated to you.
An informed public relies on courageous journalists who consistently shine a light on the systemic crises shaping basic, secondary, and tertiary education. Today we are spotlighting Mojeed Alabi, one of Nigeria’s most prominent investigative development journalists, whose deep commitment to accountability is closely intertwined with the work of Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ). A multi-award-winning journalist at the Wole Soyinka Awards for Investigative Reporting (WSAIR), Alabi was named Winner of the Print Category in 2016, Runner-up in the Print Category in 2017, and Winner of the Print Category in 2018. Demonstrating his continuous alignment with WSCIJ’s mission, he also authored the vital REMOP special report: “School children, teachers bear brunt of insecurity across Nigeria.” Currently serving as the Team Lead and Editor-in-Chief of DevReporting, Chairman of the Education Writers’ Association of Nigeria (EWAN), and formerly the Head of the Development Desk at Premium Times, his extensive coverage spans critical pillars of the education sector. From his ground-breaking investigative reports to his expert media analyses across media channels, Mojeed Alabi remains a formidable voice for media accountability, and educational equity in Nigeria.
