In my updated Joburg-Pretoria-Joburg travels, in case you didn’t know @DadaMorero @GautengProvince , no lights on your M1 highway between RivoniA and Corlett. Top notch job chaps

Can we talk about how we normalised no street lights in Gauteng? Fancy neighbourhoods and townships alike.

So we wake to huge swathes of no power, our bins are still not empty and the city is a disgusting mess, some suburbs still don’t have water and we’ve all had to pay above inflation for our rate increases. Have I got it right?

@FNBSA you have to be joking. Surely this is the basis of service as a bank to your clients. How on earth in 2026 is this a charged service. What do we pay account fees for. @derekalberts1

Can wr get an update on the Douglasdale situation? Day 3 with no water and I believe @Eskom_SA STILL hasn't been to site to fix the cable so @JHBWater can start their work. Are we going to get an update any time soon? @helenzille @DadaMorero

They steal the parts. Then sell it back to the City. Then your lights go out. Then you pay for the “repairs.” This is the circuit breaker mafia. Watch the full video to see what the DA will do to deal with this issue!⚡️ #BelieveInJoburg #Zille4Mayor – at Johannesburg, South Africa

Can anyone explain how Dada Morero is still in his position? Anyone? Or the City Power chair? Or the Joburg water board? It takes either an outright simpleton or a sociopath to stand up and say everything is great when this city is such a clustershambles.

Good morning @JHBWater. Thousands of litres of drinking water, tens of thousands of Rand. Just pouring down Anerley Road into Oxford Road. For at least five days.

SANParks has launched an investigation to trace and identify a man seen in viral social media footage allegedly engaging in dangerous and unlawful driving inside the Kruger National Park. They described the incident as deeply concerning and condemned the driver’s actions as reckless, irresponsible and a serious violation of conservation laws. According to SANParks, the footage shows the individual illegally crossing rivers with a vehicle, driving on roads that had officially been closed, and operating the vehicle recklessly within the protected area. Authorities said the conduct displayed a blatant disregard for public safety, environmental protection measures, conservation regulations and the authority of park management. SANParks stressed that national parks are protected under strict environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act (NEMPAA). These laws prohibit activities that could damage ecosystems, threaten biodiversity, endanger wildlife or compromise visitor safety. The organisation warned that violations could result in criminal charges, substantial fines, imprisonment, civil claims for damages and administrative sanctions. The agency highlighted that driving through rivers and ignoring road closures can severely damage sensitive ecosystems and infrastructure, while also putting both humans and animals at risk. Road closures in the park are often implemented for critical safety reasons, including flooding, poor road conditions and wildlife movement. SANParks confirmed that officials are actively working to identify the suspect and warned that once located, he could face the full might of the law, including fines and a possible ban from all SANParks-managed protected areas. SANParks said, “We are looking for this individual, and he will face the music.” The organisation also confirmed that gate officials allegedly seen in the video encouraging or supporting the conduct will face consequences for violating park regulations and staff conduct rules. Members of the public with information that may assist investigators have been urged to contact SANParks or the nearest law enforcement authorities. @SANParks

I last drove here two weeks ago. Unbelievably, this massive leak continues unabated and ignored. On the corner of one of Joburg’s biggest roads, Oxford, and Anerley. Seriously? @JHBWater @DadaMorero @CityofJoburgZA

The ANC is likely primarily responsible for Johannesburg's decline, given their control since 1994. Financial mismanagement, poor service delivery, and coalition instability under ANC-led governance have worsened issues like potholes, water shortages, and power cuts. Rapid mayor turnover—seven in three years by 2024—further highlights the governance chaos.

I don't even know what to say anymore. @GautengProvince Can you explain how it is that almost every single light on the motorways into and out of OR Tambo are off? And now the things are falling over too. It's terrifying
Replying to @GTalevi
Giulietta, I read your posts from UK & think surely it can’t be that bad but, having arrived at ORT for a wedding in Muldersdrift, & catching an Uber there, I decided to test your observations. 5 working traffic lights out of +- 30 from Malibongwe off-ramp to venue. Diabolical.

When will the traffic lights on Winnie Mandela and Fourways Boulevard be fixed? They have not worked since the elections. Actually none of the traffic lights in this city work. Where do other countries get their lights? Can we get those?
