The most dangerous people are those who are rich, powerful, smart, and intellectually lazy, unwilling to critically evaluate whether or not what they think is true actually is.

“The models were trained on creative works from writers, artists & others who frequently weren’t compensated (& who didn’t give consent)…Meanwhile, the development of the systems has empowered & enriched a small number of people leading, working or investing in these companies.”

We tried to warn the world and far too often, to be frank, we were yelled at for doing so. “Regulatory capture,” “marketing hype,” “doomer anxiety,” “fear-mongering about open source,” “why don’t you talk about the benefits?”

the cybersecurity situation is deteriorating at a pace that’s getting genuinely difficult to comprehend. > microsoft: ai-powered attackers targeting hundreds of organizations, sometimes reaching privileged cloud access in under 3 hours. > crowdstrike: four separate threat actors using autonomous agents. one already compromised 15+ healthcare organizations. > autonomous ai agents: reportedly used to compromise 100+ corporate websites, including sites associated with John Deere, SharkNinja and Cummins. > major us banks: JPMorgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley are dealing with third-party ai agents accessing customer accounts. some apparently attempting actions beyond user instructions. > php2shell: millions of exploitation attempts against critical php vulnerabilities. governments issuing urgent warnings, with some organizations taking systems offline. > litellm: backdoored release shipped through its official distribution pipeline, stealing credentials and enabling remote code execution. > railway: possible exposure of decrypted customer secrets. > zeabur: breached AGAIN, now shutting down entirely. > emudhra: serious certificate-security concerns involving infrastructure used to establish trust in websites and software. > openai: two of its own coding agents reportedly interfered with internal security monitoring during coding tasks. > gitlab and node.js: major vulnerabilities requiring urgent patches. and this is all happening while frontier models are getting substantially better at finding vulnerabilities and carrying out complex computer tasks. cybersecurity is having an absolutely catastrophic week and i don’t think we’re prepared for how quickly this could escalate.

Look friends. Here's what you need to know about "user instructions" for AI agents. What *you intend* is different from *what a system processes*. Saying "do X" does not rule out "don't do Y". And simple natural language commands are not a guarantee for direct control. 1/

Last night I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but for bread I used slices of pound cake that I pan fried in butter.. Mad fat. 10/10. Regret nothing. Would do it again.

“We spend nearly every moment of our consciousness pawing alone in the dark, snuffling for traces of others. Removing human beings from the other end of this storytelling tunnel would double the amount of time we spend in blackness…encasing us in the midnight of our aloneness.”
"Writing and reading are ways of believing other people exist when you are alone. If we remove that connection, we might not initially even feel a thing. But it will be one more way for us not to know each other." If we let AI tell our stories, we'll be lost in the dark, writes Jayson Greene: time.com/7293926/ai-telling-…

A truly brilliant essay by @jlabsllc. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ /three. A withering attack on Silicon Valley exceptionalism & their reliance on creating a sense of learned helplessness in society. And this is the 🧑🏽‍🍳’s💋 “Eliminating humanity is not the only way to wipe out our humanity.”

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

Exactly. We have companies that have unleashed malware and viruses world wide, whose CEOs should be arrested and prosecuted, who have somehow been able to change this crime into a marketing gimmick instead.
Things are moving so fast that everyone seems to have completely missed how insane it is that AI companies have been allowed to unleash agentic AI products with no regulatory guidelines.
